20 Years in the Mortgage Industry…
This week marks 20 years since I started in the mortgage business.
Two decades, thousands of conversations, and a front-row seat to a constantly changing market.
A lot has changed…
• Rates have swung from historic highs to historic lows (and back again)
• Guidelines have tightened, loosened, and evolved
• Technology has made things faster—but not always simpler
• The headlines have gotten louder, and the advice more confusing
But what’s interesting is what hasn’t changed.
At its core, this business is still about people making big life decisions.
It’s about:
• Helping someone buy their first home
• Navigating tough situations like divorce or financial setbacks
• Creating a strategy—not just quoting a rate
• Being available when timing matters most
After 20 years, here’s what I know for sure:
The clients who win aren’t the ones who try to perfectly time the market.
They’re the ones who have a plan and a professional in their corner.
And the loan officers who last?
They don’t chase transactions… they build trust.
