“Must be nice making $61k a month.” Okayyy let’s talk about that 👀

Because the number everyone sees on social media and the number that actually lands in my bank account are NOT the same thing, not even close.

I’m pulling back the curtain on exactly where it all went this month, clawback and all.

I’m sharing this because I genuinely think we need more honesty about business ownership. Social media can make running a business look completely glamorous, and sometimes it’s not 🫶🏼

If you’re a first home buyer in SA and you’re not on HomeSeeker… well, you need to watch this 👋🏼

These aren’t the listings you’ll find doom-scrolling at 11pm, they’re already sold by then. This is for the buyers in the know. The ones checking weekly, daily, sometimes hourly (IYKYK) 😵

Save this baddie for later or share it with a first home buyer who may not know this even exists 📲

The dream home isn’t always where you first looked…so we searched the Southern suburbs for you 👋🏼

Sometimes getting into your first home isn’t about waiting until the numbers magically line up, it’s about widening the search. Looking a few suburbs further out. Considering the area you wrote off too quickly. Extending your perimeters juuuuust enough to see what’s actually possible.

And other times it’s simply about having a plan. A real one. Not “one day when things feel ready,” but a clear next step you can actually take (hiiiiii that’s where we come in 👋🏼).

Because you might not be standing in the doorway yet... but with the right plan, future-you just might be holding the keys…And how special will that day be 🥹

Last week I was a MFAA finalist. We didn’t win.

And IMHO? Good. Because it lit something in me 🔥

Women in finance matters to me more than I can put into words. I want Bowie, my niece, or a stranger’s daughter one day to see a woman running her own brokerage and think “yeah, that’s normal.” So I’m not slowing down (soz) ✌🏼

And the numbers? Last month was Finance Society’s biggest month EVER. Top 8% of brokers nationally. Yep, speechless.

But I can’t do this without you, so thank you. Thank you for opening up and letting me play a part in what is often the biggest financial commitment of your life.

I know talking about money can feel uncomfortable sometimes (thanks to whoever made it such a weird subject), so getting to hold your hand through the journey is never something I take lightly. 🤍

YTG 🤌🏼

Let’s clear this up before EOFY, because “write it off” gets thrown around like it means “it’s free.” It doesn’t 😵

A write-off (a tax deduction) means the cost of something you buy for the business gets subtracted from your taxable income. So you’re not paying for it with free money; you’re lowering the income you get taxed on 💴

Quick little made-up example: business earns $100k, you buy a $20k work ute that qualifies: you might only get taxed on $80k. You still spent the $20k. You just don’t pay tax on that slice as well.

The catch people miss: it has to be genuinely for the business, the rules and thresholds change year to year, and your accountant has the final say; not the bloke at the pub.

So no, it’s not free. Soz 🥲

Cost of living is doing the absolute MOST right now and most “budgeting advice” online is written by people who’ve clearly never had to think twice about a grocery shop 🥲

My biggest takes? Automate bills. Think before buying a big purchase. Check your subscriptions [and set calendar reminders when a free trial expires 😙]. Track your invisible spending. Annnnd don’t restrict EVERYTHING. A budget is there to save, yes, but you also still need to live 💸

If you help to track your spending? DM us BUDGET and I’ll drop a link into your inbox to download our free budget tool 🥰

Single parent thinking the property market is out of reach? It may not be that far out of reach 👇

Here's how you could buy an $800K home in Happy Valley with just $63K saved.

Under the Family Home Guarantee, single parents only need a 2% deposit: not the usual 20%.
Here's the breakdown:
→ 2% deposit: $16,000
→ Stamp duty: $47,000
→ Total you need: $63,000

Repayments would sit around $1,083/week.

That's it. No LMI. No second guarantor. Just a scheme that was literally designed to help single parents get back into the market.

If you've been telling yourself it's not possible; let's actually run your numbers. You might be closer than you think. 💸

The range in this office of how much we each paid for our houses is WILD 😭

We went around and asked what year everyone bought their first house and how much they paid. From $350k in 2013 to $1.23M in 2024; basically a timeline of the Aussie property market in one room.

What year did you buy and how much did it cost? 👀
