Pinch Me – I Have My Own Office!
An incredibly proud moment in my career, and something I have worked so hard to achieve. Ever since I became a broker in 2012, I had one main objective: to one day open my own practice. Life, children and a lot of procrastination got in the way. It never felt like the right moment. There was always an excuse. I didn’t think I was ready. But I was. I just didn’t know it.
Next Friday marks exactly three years to the day since The Mortgage Mogul was founded.
From that moment, my thought process changed. For the first time in my career, I wasn’t just thinking and acting as an adviser, I was thinking and acting as a business owner. First came creating a logo and brand that would stand out. Then building a website, establishing a presence in the community and online, and building relationships with local businesses. Slowly but surely, my network started to grow.
Then came the next big challenge:
How do I establish and build my business?
I spent countless hours looking at what other successful brokerages were doing.
What did their business look like from the outside?
What first impression did they give prospective clients?
How were they attracting new clients?
What were they doing online?
I knew I didn’t just want to be a work-from-home broker. I wanted to build something. I wanted The Mortgage Mogul to be known in the city. I wanted to be based in the community, serving the community, whilst building strong relationships with other local businesses.
Community is everything to me.
I come from a large family, I’m one of 23 grandchildren and there is no better buzz than being around other people, supporting each other and helping each other succeed.
For years, I had a vision of what my office would look like.
Visible to passers-by.
A strong brand that stands out.
Welcoming to the public.
A place I would genuinely enjoy coming to work every day.
And somewhere that other people would want to be part of.
That vision is now a reality.
How the business grows from here is ultimately in God’s plan, but I’ve put the foundations in place.
The hard work starts now.
One thing is certain: I haven’t got here alone.
