📢 RBA Update: Cash rate rises to 4.60%

This afternoon the Reserve Bank raised the official cash rate by 0.25%, from 4.35% to 4.60%. It's the fourth increase of 2026 and takes the cash rate to its highest level in about 15 years.

What the RBA said
The Board said inflation is still too high, and some of the risks it flagged in August are now showing up. The decision was unanimous. The RBA also made it clear that further rises are possible if they're needed to bring inflation back to target.

What this means for you
💰 Most lenders are likely to pass the increase on to variable rates within the next week or two.
📊 As a rough guide, on a $600,000 loan a 0.25% rise adds about $100 a month to repayments.
🔒 If you're coming off a fixed rate soon, now is the time to review your options.
