Totally non work related post today, just a super proud dad moment.

My three boys all train in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at SJJA in Crows Nest. When they first started, they were much smaller and very shy on the mats. Now they’re growing up and competing.

Charlie, my eldest, took gold in his division for the second year running.

Jack, my middle son, had a really large bracket and five fights just to reach the final. He got through them all and took gold as well.

Between the two of them, hardly any points were scored against them. They were so good out there.

Archie, my youngest, is training hard and looking forward to competing next year. So watch the name, the Stephenson boys, jiu jitsu specialists, haha!

It’s not often you get to stand on that number one spot. Win or lose, it didn’t matter. Having the courage to get out there and put yourself up against other kids is a huge challenge. After all their hard work, to get the results they did is just amazing.

Seeing how the boys have really pushed through is inspiring me to get back on the mats myself. So watch this space, I might pull the gi on once again, fingers crossed!

The whole team at SJJA is absolutely exceptional, and I can’t recommend it highly enough for kids and adults. There are academies all around now, so check them out and become a member. They’re brilliant.

Buying an investment property through a self managed super fund is never quick, and this one came with an extra challenge. Lender timeframes blew out well beyond normal, the vendor's side wanted regular finance updates, and there was real pressure on the settlement date.

So we stayed on the front foot. Constant follow ups with the lender, guiding Regina and her partner through every step, and keeping the whole team on the same page, from the buyer's agent and conveyancers to the accountant, financial adviser and solicitor. The result was application to formal approval with very few conditions, and settlement almost right on time.
