It was a pleasure to connect with members across a series of events featuring Brighter Super's retirement advocate David Koch “Kochie”, Chief Executive Officer Kate Farrar, Chief Member Officer Lisa Kay, Chief Commercial Officer Sean Martenee, Chief Investment Officer Damien Webb and our dedicated Cairns team.

🚢 Your retirement savings at work.

Last week, our team visited Sea Swift in Cairns, one of Brighter Super’s Queensland infrastructure investments helping connect remote coastal and island communities across Far North Queensland and the Torres Strait.

From delivering essential supplies and medicines to transporting building materials and fuel, Sea Swift plays a vital role in supporting more than 50,000 people living in remote communities.

Seeing these operations first-hand is a powerful reminder of how long-term infrastructure investments can work in two ways: supporting members' retirement outcomes while helping keep Queensland communities connected.

What a fantastic few days at the 130th LGAQ Annual Conference in Cairns 🌴

Our leadership team and colleagues were proud to join local government leaders, councillors and industry partners from across Queensland to discuss the opportunities and challenges shaping the future of our communities.

A highlight was hearing Brighter Super CEO Kate Farrar share how our local government heritage, member support and Queensland Investment Strategy are helping council employees build stronger retirement futures.

It was also fantastic to have to have retirement advocate, David “Kochie” Koch, at the Brighter Super stand to meet and greet conference attendees.

Looking back on a fantastic few days at the LGMA Annual Local Government Conference 2026 👏
