This National Reconciliation Week, we’re all in.

Our team stepped away from the day-to-day to come together for a meaningful art workshop facilitated by artists Kylie and David Hill from KJH Artworks - connecting with colleagues and contributing to a shared piece inspired by this year’s theme, ‘All In’.

As part of our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), this hands-on experience brought our commitment to life - building understanding, strengthening relationships, and creating space for reflection and learning.

Thank you to everyone who took part and helped make this a powerful and meaningful moment in our reconciliation journey.

Brighter Super has been supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander members across Queensland for decades and proudly works alongside Queensland’s 17 Indigenous Councils.

Big super changes are coming from 1 July 2026 - and they could have a real impact on how retirement savings grow for many people.

One of the biggest updates is payday super, where super will be paid at the same time as your salary instead of quarterly for many people. This means super contributions can be invested sooner, giving them more time to benefit from compound growth.

Contribution caps and thresholds have also been updated, creating new opportunities for some Australians to boost their super and plan ahead.

Understanding what’s changing, and what it means for you, can help you make confident decisions about your financial future.

Brighter Super was proud to sponsor the Queensland Finance Summit 2026 this week, bringing together leaders across banking, super, government and investment to focus on Queensland’s economic future.

Treasurer David Janetzki opened the summit by reinforcing the vital role a dynamic financial services sector plays in shaping the state’s future.

Our CEO, Kate Farrar, then joined the panel discussion to share how scale, combined with a deliberate local focus, can deliver strong outcomes for members and meaningful results for Queensland.

Closing the event, our CIO Damien Webb reflected on the opportunities ahead and the important role long-term investment can play in supporting Queensland’s continued growth.

As Queensland’s third-largest non-government financial institution, we’re already delivering through our Queensland Investment Strategy — now two years into our five-year additional $500 million commitment, with almost half already invested.

Thanks to the Queensland Futures Institute for bringing together such an important conversation on Queensland’s future.

Last week, Treasurer Jim Chalmers handed down the 2026/27 Federal Budget, with a focus on cost-of-living relief, housing and tax reform.

While most proposed changes have a modest impact on super, there are some key updates to be aware of - particularly if you own an investment property, hold investments outside super, or are nearing retirement.

The key takeaway: your super remains largely unchanged and continues to be one of the most tax-effective ways to grow your retirement savings. Upcoming changes from 1 July 2026, like higher contribution caps and Payday Super, may create more opportunities to grow your balance over time.

Great discussions at last week’s FSC Technology in Wealth Summit, with Brighter Super’s CTO Randike Gajanayake joining a panel exploring Data in the Age of AI, chaired by Novigi’s Senior Partner Devan Naidoo and featuring fellow panellists Ashwin Sinha (Macquarie Group) and futurist Mark Pesce.

The conversation explored how leading organisations are using AI to extract more value from existing systems, drive faster decisions and lift productivity across investment, operations and member engagement.

A few themes that really stood out:
• Unlocking value through governance — not just technology
• Turning both structured and unstructured data into something genuinely useful
• Building knowledge stores that convert information into insight
• Using AI to rapidly validate ideas and test hypotheses
• Balancing innovation with privacy, protection and trust

One idea that resonated in particular is that AI needs to be grounded in humanity. The organisations seeing the most impact aren’t just implementing tools, they’re taking their people on the journey.

Proud to see Brighter Super finance professionals attend the launch of the NextGen Finance Network at Queensland Parliament House, hosted by the Queensland Futures Institute (QFI).

Kate Farrar CEO Brighter Super highlighted in her speech a critical challenge facing the sector: while 85% of Queensland finance students aspire to a career in financial services, fewer than half expect to remain in Brisbane, often due to limited visibility of local career pathways. The NextGen Finance Network has been designed to close that gap - showcasing the depth of opportunity that already exists here and giving emerging finance professionals the confidence to build ambitious, long term careers in Queensland.

Supported by the Hon David Janetzki MP and backed by leading employers, including Brighter Super, the network provides finance professionals with opportunities to increase visibility, support career growth, and build meaningful industry connections early in their careers.
