Not everyone likes to hear the truth. In the book of Jeremiah, the prophet was ostracized for telling the people the truth about the Babylonian exile taking 70 yrs vs. 2 (like the false prophets were saying). Why do I bring this up? Because the 10 yr bond market has increased yields over 4.75% for the past 2 days, a level that we haven't seen in over a year and mortgage rates are have followed suit. Todays rate costs 3 points more than the same rate in January 2026. What does this mean? Folks looking to purchase homes need to talk with your lender if you have been preapproved for more than 3 months while looking for a home. Your buying power may be compromised and it is important that you are taking the current rate environment into play when looking at homes. BUT don't stop shopping, purchasing a home is a great way to create harmony in your family and help build long term wealth.
