Today, we recognize Juneteenth, a time to reflect on freedom, honor Black history, and celebrate the strength and contributions of Black communities. Throughout Connecticut, local events offer opportunities to learn and recognize the significance of this important day.

Communities throughout Connecticut are commemorating Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day. Juneteenth is celebrated on June 19 to honor the emancipation of the last enslaved people in the U.S. in Galveston, Texas.
