The ConnexCares Grant Program helps local nonprofits continue the work our communities count on. We’re happy to support Our Piece of the Pie as one of this year’s grant recipients!

Based in Hartford, Our Piece of the Pie helps young people work toward their individual goals through personal development, education, and career support. From finding a job to learning how to manage money, their programs offer guidance and hands-on experiences that help young adults build confidence and independence.

This grant will support their financial education programming, helping participants develop practical money skills and put those lessons into practice.

Our team came together in pink today to show our support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month! 🩷

Throughout the month, Connex employees have been raising funds for GoPink at Middlesex Hospital, an initiative supporting breast cancer care in our community. Thanks to the efforts and generosity of our team, Connex is donating $2,500 to help make a difference for those impacted by breast cancer.

Congratulations to LeAndre “Lee” Dupree, our AVP of Community Development, on receiving Connecticut’s Credit Unions’ Momentum Award for Emerging Credit Union Leadership!

Lee brings his background in human services to his work at Connex, helping people access financial education, homeownership opportunities, and community resources. His approach starts with listening, understanding challenges, and meeting people where they are.

Since joining Connex in 2022, he has helped support financial education programs reaching more than 4,600 people annually and grow the Connex Community Network to more than 45 active partners—all working to connect individuals and families with opportunities to move forward.

Our team attended the APEX Conference last week, where we connected with fellow credit union professionals, heard fresh perspectives from speakers, and took part in educational sessions. From engaging speakers and workshops to conversations with peers, we came back with fresh inspiration for serving our members and communities.

We also had a few special reasons to celebrate at Connecticut’s Credit Unions’ Momentum Awards! Connex received the Wild Card Marketing Award for our social media strategy—using humor and trending short-form videos to make banking more relatable—and the Community Impact & Cooperative Values Award for our work supporting the communities we serve.

A special congratulations to LeAndre Dupree, our AVP of Community Development, who received the Emerging Credit Union Leadership Award! We’re so proud to see his leadership and dedication to our Community Development team recognized.
