πŸ“£ eHealth research is making headlines again.

Today, Politico featured new eHealth findings that reveal a surprising gap between Medicare confidence and actual understanding.

While most Medicare beneficiaries say they feel confident about their understanding of the program, only 13% could accurately define its main coverage options.

The study also found that most people already enrolled in Medicare β€” and those approaching eligibility β€” are unaware of cost-sharing requirements under Original Medicare, potentially leaving them financially exposed if they need medical care.

As eHealth CEO Derrick Duke explained, "Consumer confidence doesn't always translate into actual understanding."

With the Medicare Annual Enrollment Period approaching, these findings highlight the need for additional education and guidance to support improved decision making.

How well do you understand your Medicare health plan options? πŸ€”

According to new eHealth research, 89% of Medicare beneficiaries feel confident in their knowledge. But when tested, most don’t actually know how the program works.

For instance:
β€’ 88% are unaware that Original Medicare has no annual cap on out-of-pocket costs.
β€’ 42% do not know or underestimate Original Medicare's standard 20% cost-sharing requirements.
β€’ Only 13% can correctly identify the definitions of the four primary Medicare health plan options.

If you or a loved one is preparing for this year’s Medicare Annual Enrollment Period, it is more important than ever to understand health plan options, costs, and plan enrollment rules.

πŸ’‰ Thinking about a GLP-1 medication? Access to these drugs through Medicare is changing.

The cost of GLP-1 drugs has kept them out of reach for many Americans, but new programs will make these medications more affordable for some Medicare beneficiaries.

Here are a few important updates:

βœ… Some eligible Medicare beneficiaries who meet specific medical criteria may qualify for the new GLP-1 Bridge program, with certain medications available for $50 per month through 2027.
βœ… Most Medicare Advantage plans cover at least one GLP-1 medication for diabetes, but coverage for weight loss remains much more limited.
βœ… If you don't have insurance, some GLP-1 medications may be available through TrumpRx.gov for as low as $199 per month, depending on the medication and dosage.

Our latest survey found that 73% of Medicare beneficiaries aren't familiar with the new GLP-1 Bridge program, even though it could help eligible beneficiaries save on prescription costs.

If you or a loved one is considering a GLP-1 medication, now is a good time to review your Medicare health plan coverage, talk with your doctor, and understand which programs you may qualify for.

✈️🌎 Traveling this summer? If so, don’t let a medical surprise mess up your trip.

eHealth research found that 63% of Americans wouldn’t know what to do if they needed medical care while traveling, and nearly 70% either don’t know or mistakenly believe their health plan covers them internationally.

Here are 3 steps to travel smarter:

βœ… Before you go: Schedule a wellness visit, check that vaccinations are up to date, and confirm what your health plan covers away from home.

πŸ₯ While you travel: Know your coverage, carry your insurance or Medicare card, and keep emergency contacts handy. International travelers should be aware that many plans offer limited or no coverage abroad.

πŸ“‹ After your trip: Save medical bills, receipts, and records in case you need to file a reimbursement claim. Consider whether travel insurance or original Medicare and a Medicare Supplement plan may be helpful for future trips.
