His mortgage payment went UP - ON PURPOSE.

We refinanced him from a 30-year loan at 7.375% to a 10-year loan at 6.25%.

His principal-and-interest payment increased from 6,077 to $8,421 but projected full-term interest went from about $1.3 million to $260,500.

The lesson: Don’t just compare payments. Compare the whole plan.
