🚨 A simple review uncovered a potentially serious issue today.

I met with a client to review their existing life insurance and critical illness cover. During our conversation, we discovered that their policy had been set up with them listed as a non-smoker, when in fact they were a smoker.

Whilst mistakes can happen, incorrect information like this could have serious consequences if a claim ever needed to be made. It really reinforced why reviewing your protection regularly is so important.

The good news is we were able to:
✅ Arrange cover based on the correct information.
✅ Improve their critical illness cover with a provider offering a stronger range of covered conditions.
✅ Give them the confidence that their protection is now accurate and fit for purpose.

If it’s been a while since you last reviewed your life insurance, critical illness cover or income protection, or you’ve had changes in your health, lifestyle or circumstances, it could be worth checking everything is still right for you.

A review doesn’t always mean paying more – sometimes it’s simply about making sure the cover you have will actually do what you expect it to when it matters most.

3. Dodgy decisions by the ref

Recovery isn’t always part of the plan… but being prepared can make all the difference. 💪

A week ago, I was focused on training for my next ultra marathon. Today, I’m in a moon boot recovering from torn ligaments and a hairline fracture.

It’s frustrating, but injuries and illness don’t send you a calendar invite—they just happen.

Thankfully, for me, this is a temporary setback. But it has reminded me why I have so many conversations with clients about Income Protection.

Life has a funny way of reminding us how quickly things can change…

Just a few days ago I was training for the 100k Pilgrims Ultra marathon. Today, I’m in a moon boot after a nasty ankle injury, facing months of recovery and an upcoming holiday in the mix too 🤦🏼‍♂️

Thankfully, for me it’s “just” my running that’s on hold. But …
