Taking a little time off! 🌿

I'll be stepping away from the laptop for a bit to recharge and enjoy some well-earned time off. Wanted to let you all know in case you're trying to reach me — I'll have limited access to email and messages while I'm out, but I promise I'll get back to you as soon as I'm back at my desk (coffee in hand, as always ☕).

Thanks for your patience, and I'll see you all again soon!

Quick question: What is your most valuable asset? 🏠🚗

Your house? Your car? Your pension pot?

It’s actually your ability to earn an income. If you earn £20,000 a year and have 25 years left of your career, that’s £500,000 passing through your hands.

We legally have to insure our cars. We wouldn't dream of not insuring our homes. So why do we leave the literal machine that pays for all of it completely unprotected? Think about it. 🧠

If you woke up tomorrow and couldn't work for the next 6 months due to an illness or injury... what's your Plan B?

A) Live off savings (how long would they actually last?)

B) Rely on partner's income (is that fair on them?

C) Government support (have you looked at what Statutory Sick Pay actually pays?

D) Hope it never happens." But hope isn't a financial plan. Let’s be honest in the comments—how long could your current setup hold the fort? 👇

If your business partner's shares suddenly passed to their next of kin tomorrow, which of the following scenarios is most likely to happen in your boardroom?

A) We have a legal agreement and the cash/insurance ready to buy them out immediately.
B) The family would join the business, despite having no experience in our field.
C) We would have to liquidate assets or take on heavy debt to buy out the family.
D) They would likely try to sell the shares to an outside investor or competitor.

Be brutally honest. If your business isn't a definitive A, your entire life's work is vulnerable to a single twist of fate.

If your business partner passed away this week, who owns their shares on Monday?
Hint: It isn't you.

Without a Shareholder Protection policy in place, those shares belong to their family. You are then faced with two terrible options:
1️⃣ Try to find thousands in cash out of the business reserves to buy them out.
2️⃣ Take out a massive, expensive bank loan during a corporate crisis to fund the buyback.

Or, you could have a policy that handles it automatically for a tiny monthly premium.

Where does your business stand right now?
Drop a 🛡️ if you have shareholder protection locked in, or a ⏳ if you're flying without a safety net!
