Before the neighbourhood’s little ghosts and goblins arrive, take a few minutes to check the route from the sidewalk to your doorstep. Your neighbours and your insurance provider will thank you!
🍂 Clear the way
Sweep away wet leaves and move toys, garden tools, and other obstacles. Keep pumpkins and decorations off steps and out of walking routes.
💡 Make the path easy to see
Check your outdoor lights and make sure visitors can clearly see steps, uneven surfaces, and your entrance. Spooky decorations don’t need a dark walkway!
🔌 Watch those cords
Route extension cords away from foot traffic and secure decorations so they don’t become tripping hazards.

Battery-operated candles give pumpkins their glow without an open flame near costumes or decorations.
🐾 Plan for your pets
Doorbells, costumes, and unfamiliar visitors can be overwhelming. Give pets a comfortable, secure space away from the excitement.
