One year. 1,000 safe sleeps. A community effort worth celebrating.
In one year, we have provided over 1,000 safe sleeps, bringing the total to over 2,500 safe sleeps since January 2022.
Every safe sleep means someone experiencing homelessness had a secure place to rest, away from the uncertainty of sleeping rough.
This achievement belongs to the people who make that possible, and we are incredibly grateful.
To our amazing volunteers: thank you for the hours you give, the care you show our guests and your commitment week after week. Whether you drive the bus, welcome guests, stay overnight, clean pods, organise linen or coordinate shifts, your contribution is enormous. You turn a bus into a place where people feel safe, welcomed and respected.
To all our funders, business partners and supporters: thank you for backing the Sleeper and helping keep it operating across Maroochydore and Nambour. Your support pays for the practical things that keep the wheels turning and the doors open. Thank you for your continued commitment to our guests and this service.
To the community members who donate through our platforms: thank you. Whether you give once or regularly, your generosity helps provide safe nights of sleep for people in our community. Every contribution helps keep this service available, and we are grateful for the trust you place in us.
A special thank you to our coordinator, Leonie, for the countless hours she gives to organising shifts, volunteers and bus repairs, bringing this community effort together. Your dedication, care and commitment to our guests and volunteers are truly appreciated.
What we’ve achieved this year:
Over 1,000 safe sleeps.
12 guests have moved into accommodation.
19 guests have positively reconnected with family.
4 guests have secured casual employment.
1 guest secured full-time employment
60 guests have re-engaged with outreach services.
2 nights added in Nambour, alongside our Maroochydore service.
A dedicated volunteer team turning up night after night, making this possible.
A safe night’s sleep gives people the chance to rest, think clearly and take their next steps.
