Join us for this week as we reflect on the importance of rural and regional Australia and provide support where it’s needed most.

We are raising funds for three core beneficiaries assisting with education, mental health and financial hardship: Rural Aid, Australian Schools Plus, Outback Futures Ltd, plus some further charities in a smaller capacity.

The concept is simple…. On a Friday, once a year, city people forego (or match) what they might spend on a nice lunch or drinks and donate it to the cause.

100 cents in every dollar you donate will go directly to the beneficiaries. To find out more or to show your support, click here: www.bigdryfriday.com.au

The countdown has begun. Less than three months until bigdryfriday 2022 on 18 November.

What is Big Dry Friday? It's a day to celebrate and support rural and regional Australians and raise money to create long-term benefits for their communities.

Entries are now open for the National Emerging Art Prize 2022.

Founded in 2021, the National Emerging Art Prize was established to provide a highly visible national platform to identify, promote and support the most promising emerging visual and ceramic artists in Australia.

Morgans is a proud supporter of the arts and we are thrilled to be the major sponsor of this exciting initiative once again.

Up to 25 emerging painters will be invited to participate in an exhibition in November with all works available for sale to the public. This prize looks to connect collectors with emerging artists.

The overall single winning entry will receive an acquisitive $20,000 cash prize—donated by Morgans.

The winner will also receive the Michael Reid Gallery Prize of a solo exhibition at Michael Reid Northern Beaches in the following year.

Best of luck to all artists and ceramicists who enter. More info here:

Save the date: Big Dry Friday is back in 2022 on Friday 18 November. Mark it in your calendar and help us celebrate and support rural Australia.

It's a day to connect city and country and provide support where it's needed most.

Over the past four years we have raised more than $3.4 million with the help of Morgans clients, staff and business partners across Australia and distributed these funds to rural charities assisting with education, mental health and those suffering financial hardship due to natural disasters.

Our main beneficiaries this year will be Rural Aid, Australian Schools Plus and Outback Futures Ltd.

Global equity markets are down 5.5% year-to-date, as US bond yields, gold and oil rose, and the Ukraine conflict escalated dramatically following Russian military action. This came as markets also priced a significant Fed hiking cycle in 2022 and some US economic growth indicators slowed. These factors have left markets at a critical juncture in the short term providing investors with a broad scope of potential outcomes.

In this edition, we explain our more cautious Asset Allocation and our preference for staying invested domestically. Our economist Michael Knox also explains why war risk is having an outsized impact on global oil and food prices.
