A year ago, people still fitted the tyres by hand. Today, two robot arms do it.

On Foord’s Orient Express Tour, JC Xue and Brian Arcese visited SAIC Motor Corporation’s EV manufacturing plant in Shanghai. More than 80% of the car-making process there is now automated. SAIC is China's largest automotive manufacturer and is best known globally for the success of its MG brand in Europe and Southeast Asia.

They look at how fast automation is improving productivity in China's EV sector. They also explain why a remarkable factory doesn't always make a straightforward investment case in such a competitive market.

11 October is International Day of the Girl, a day that recognises the potential of every girl and the importance of giving her the tools to thrive.

Every year, Foord opens its doors to high school girls for a day of learning about financial literacy and the investment industry. Sometimes seeing a path is the first step to walking it.

Yesterday we hosted 10 girls from Alexander Sinton High School and the girls got to spend one on one time with Nkanyezi Sikakane, Christina Castle, Diane Behr, Farzana Bayat and Linda Eedes, all who had valuable insights to share.

We’re proud to champion this initiative with CFA Society South Africa and to help empower the next generation of young women in finance.
