PART 2: We’re hiring our next Loan Officer Apprentice in Tucson! 🌵
In Part 1, we introduced you to Griffin, our latest Loan Officer Apprentice graduate. Now we’re getting into what it was actually like to start in the mortgage industry with zero experience.
Griffin even admits there were terms he did not understand at first. For a couple of weeks, he pretended he knew what a HELOC was before learning that it meant home equity line of credit.
But that is part of learning a new industry.
Griffin says the qualities that helped him most were a willingness to learn, putting his ego aside, and continuing to absorb information even when everything did not make sense yet.
One of the biggest benefits of the apprentice role for him was having guidance available as he learned. Rather than being expected to know everything on day one, he was able to build his knowledge and responsibilities over time.
Now Griffin is graduating, and we are looking for our next Loan Officer Apprentice in Tucson.
His advice to someone thinking about applying?

We’re hiring in Tucson! 🌵
Meet Griffin, our latest Loan Officer Apprentice graduate.
When Griffin started, he had zero mortgage experience. In his words, he “didn’t even know what a mortgage was.”
But he knew he wanted to get into real estate and help people get into homes.
A few months into the position, Griffin was sitting in a client meeting listening to one of our loan officers explain mortgage options when he had his “aha” moment. He understood what was being discussed and realized just how much he had learned.
Today, he has a clear understanding of the mortgage industry, has grown tremendously in his role, and even used that knowledge during his own journey to buying his first home.
Now he’s ready to pass the baton.

July Market Recap for Tucson 🌵
The latest numbers give us a good look at what’s happening in the Tucson real estate market.
Closed sales came in at 1,188, down 2% compared with last year.
At the same time, new listings increased 2.7% to 1,716. That means buyers have more homes to choose from as they search across Tucson.
The median sales price came in at $364,900.
For comparison, the national median sales price referenced in this update was $417,700. That puts Tucson more than $50,000 below the national median.
If you’re thinking about buying a home in Tucson, having more choices on the market could make this a good time to explore what’s available and understand your financing options.
