This year, Stevie’s World will be filled with red, white and blue. We’ll celebrate the games we love, the community we call home, and the kids who give us a reason to come together.

But before the first pitch is thrown, we’ll take a moment to honor someone who reminds us what those colors truly represent.

We are incredibly honored to welcome 102-year-old World War II veteran Walter Boston Stitt, Jr. to the Stevie’s World Opening Ceremony.

Walter served as a tank loader and gunner with the U.S. Army’s 3rd Armored Division, fighting across Europe and in the Battle of the Bulge. He survived the destruction of three Sherman tanks, was wounded twice and received two Purple Hearts for his service.

More than eight decades later, we get the extraordinary privilege of standing beside him and saying something that can never be said enough:

Thank you for your courage.
Thank you for your sacrifice.
Thank you for serving a country that generations after you still get to call home.

Stevie’s World has always been about more than wiffleball. It’s about people. It’s about showing up for one another. It’s about a community coming together for something bigger than ourselves.

This September, we celebrate America.

And we can’t think of a more meaningful way to begin than by honoring one of the men who fought for her.

STEVIE’S WORLD… BUT MAKE IT BRICKS.

We’re building something pretty awesome for September 19. Literally. 😏

Springfield’s own Brick Base is coming to Stevie’s World!

They’re bringing the bricks, the creativity and some special Wiffle Ball builds made just for our event- giving our kids, families, and spectators one more reason to stick around and soak up the day.

If you haven’t checked out Brick Base yet, you should. This local Springfield LEGO studio is all about letting kids build, create, and use their imaginations. And we LOVE getting to bring another hometown business into the Stevie’s World fun.
