Buying a home is one of the biggest purchases you'll make in your life and a home inspection assesses the home's structure and mechanical systems (i.e. the roof, walls, windows, appliances, HVAC systems, plumbing and electrical, etc) so you don't end up buying a lemon.

The inspection happens after the seller accepts the offer. The home inspector's job isn’t to determine if you’re getting a good deal, but it is to help you determine if there are any serious issues with the home that you should be aware of that could cost you down the line.
After the inspection you’ll most likely receive a detailed report to review of everything the inspection found – big and small. From there you’ll consult with your realtor about which items you’ll ask the sellers to repair. It’s a good idea to get the home inspected sooner rather than later, that way, if the inspector uncovers any serious issues that you’re not ready to take on, you can back out and move on to the next home.
