🏡 Big housing news out of Washington. Here’s what it means for refinancing.

Last Thursday, the President signed an executive order called “Decreasing Housing Costs for the American People.” The focus is making refinances less expensive.

Here’s what it sets in motion:

✅ Making it EASIER to cancel mortgage insurance once you’ve built enough equity
✅ Expanding a program that lets some refinances skip the lender’s title insurance policy
✅ Asking the FHFA to consider more appraisal waivers on refinances
✅ Asking them to consider reducing or eliminating LLPAs, the pricing fees that can add to the cost of a conventional refinance
✅ Possibly “no income verification” on conventional rate and term refis, similar to what we can already do on VA refis

⚠️ Important: nothing changes overnight. The agencies still have to set up these programs, define who qualifies, and decide when they take effect.
