Mortgage rates in the 7s seem to be the new normal, but there is hope on the horizon. Mortgage market watcher and his crew today discussed there is some concern that the stock market may face a correction soon.

Rising inflation and oil prices tend to correlate with rising mortgage rates but recent news in the bond market (which has a more direct effect on mortgage rates) shows it is leveling out as investors start getting a little skittish about a potential stock market correction or a possible recession, which tends to level out mortgage rates as well. It's still too early to say, but I'll keep an eye on the rates for you.

Mostly an uneventful day but rates DID drop the past two days. Tomorrow the Fed is expected to announce no rate cuts but only tomorrow will tell. And regardless of what they announce, mortgage rates are not directly effected by the Fed rate.

Rates continue to rise with the conflict with Iran enters it's third week. Attacks on oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz is pushing oil prices up, effecting global markets and mortgage rates. Barry Habib and Mortgage News Daily both expect uncertainty in the coming weeks.
