Way to go, Megan!!

Our 8th grade Entrepreneur class recently wrapped up a lesson on Financial Planning & Budgeting: Startup Costs & Funding Options with a special classroom visit from Megan Belhart, Universal Banker at IncredibleBank.
Megan gave students a real-world look at banking for businesses and explained the important role financial planning plays in entrepreneurship. Students learned about different business structures, including sole proprietorships, LLCs, corporations, and nonprofit vs. for-profit organizations.

She also walked students through the steps involved in opening a business account:
• Choose the business type
• Obtain an EIN and gather required documents
• Meet with a banker

Students were introduced to many of the basic/cash management banking tools businesses use every day, including:
• Online banking
• Bill pay
• Debit cards
• Payroll tools
• Remote deposit capture

Megan also explained how businesses use loans and credit cards to:
• Purchase equipment
• Buy inventory
• Open new locations
• Build credit
• Track spending

This presentation helped students connect classroom budgeting concepts to real-life business operations and showed them how important financial planning is to starting and growing a successful business.
