Some losses are especially difficult because they remind us just how much goodness one person could bring into the lives of others, even in ways they may never have realized.

When our family first moved to the district, Holley was one of the people who helped my son find his way around a new school and an unfamiliar place. She was so kind and loving to him, almost like a big sister when he needed one most.

I’ve never forgotten the kindness she showed him. Those small acts of compassion have stayed with me and serve as such a beautiful reminder of the kind soul she was.

It is heartbreaking to know that her life was taken far too soon.

Our thoughts, prayers, and deepest condolences are with her family, friends, classmates, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing and loving her. May they find comfort in the memories she leaves behind and in the impact she made on so many lives.

Please keep her loved ones in your prayers during this incredibly difficult time.

[9/2] East Bernard and Louise is mourning the loss of student Holley Trochta.

Holley passed away over night from injuries suffered in a car crash on Tuesday.

East Bernard ISD Superintendent Courtney Hudgins announced Holley's death Wednesday, describing her as a "kind, loving, and compassionate young person."

Holley previously attended Louise ISD, where her former classmates are also remembering her.

Please keep the Trochta and Grant family in your prayers.

Correction: In an earlier post, we stated that the accident involving Holley occurred on Monday. The accident actually happened on Tuesday morning. We have updated the post to reflect the correct date.

🎉 10 YEARS 🎉

Today marks 10 years as a branch owner and when I think back over the last decade, I realize just how much more it has been than policies, renewals, claims, and paperwork.

As a community, we've been through Harvey and Beryl, numerous tropical storms, Winter Storm Uri, and more than a few situations that had our community holding its breath. I've helped clients through damaged homes, difficult claims, unexpected losses, and the uncertainty that comes with not knowing what happens next. Some days were long, some conversations were hard, and some phones just didn't stop ringing. But through all of it, I've been incredibly grateful that our clients trusted me to be there when they needed us most.

But in between, there have also been so many good moments.

There have been laughs with clients, celebrations, new homes, weddings, anniversaries, and the privilege of helping growing families. I've watched clients become parents, their children grow up, and eventually saw some of those kids head off to college.

Along the way, my own family grew when my two youngest boys arrived. My oldest came along before this party got started, so he's been along for the ride the whole time! 😜

After a decade, so many of my clients aren't just names on a policy. They're people I've gotten to know, families I've watched grow, and stories I've been lucky enough to be a small part of.

10 years later, I'm incredibly grateful. Grateful for every client who trusted me with their home, their family, their business, and all the things they've worked so hard for.

And because 10 years deserves a little celebrating… we're going to celebrate YOU!
Starting September 17th and running through September 30th, we'll be celebrating with 10 Days of Giveaways! And you know we love supporting our local community, so the giveaways will feature gift cards to some of our favorite local businesses.

It's our little way of saying THANK YOU for supporting a local business, trusting us with your insurance needs, and allowing us to be part of your lives for the past 10 years.

Here's to 10 years and to all the people who made them so special! 🥂

4PM Tropical Depression Five Update

Rainfall remains the primary concern here especially along and east of I-45. The only notable change to the National Hurricane Center's forecast in this cycle is that their last forecast point before landfall now shows 60 mph winds. Regarding the potential strength at landfall, they are basically echoing what I've been communicating in my prior posts:

"The tropical cyclone is fairly compact and has a small radius of maximum wind. Although it only has about a day over the very warm Gulf waters, strengthening is expected within a generally low shear environment. Since the small size of the system makes it more susceptible to quicker intensity changes, the NHC intensity forecast has been raised and now lies above almost all of the intensity guidance, including HCCA and IVCN. The legacy hurricane regional models (HWRF/HMON) show even more strengthening than is forecast here. While this does not appear to be the most likely scenario, interests in the warning area are reminded to closely monitor the latest forecast updates."

Tropical systems tend to fire off their strongest storms overnight, making the overnight window the prime time for any significant strengthening. We'll keep you posted on that, but again, if it does make a run at category 1 hurricane status, it would only impact a very small zone near the coast and inland along the immediate path.

Regarding the rain, conditions will deteriorate generally along and east of I-45 as the day goes on. So while some may have no issue getting in to work and school, getting home could be a challenge. That's one reason why several school districts on Houston's east side are closing down for tomorrow. You can check up on local school closures here: https://abc13.com/19771138/

We do believe there is the potential for this to drop some significant rains along the path Tuesday and Tuesday night because tropical systems getting stronger as they approach land tend to maintain their structure longer than those that are weakening (like Bertha). And once again, many locations west of I-45 may not get a drop of rain due to the compact size of the system.

Regardless, I encourage you to stay weather aware given the uncertainties in the exact track and strength of what we expect to become Edouard. Our team is here for you, and we'll keep you well informed and aware these next few days.

Every day I am amazed by insurance. This week, I saved an older couple $6000 on their auto premium. SIX THOUSAND DOLLARS. I wish I could say I was making that number up, because it almost sounds unreal! Please please please help your family members and look over their policies. We are happy to help shop and see if we can save them some money.

Now I hope that family goes and has a nice family vacay with all of that saved cash! ;)

Happy Monday!

Y'all, it's hot as Hades out there. You may have noticed people out watering around their foundations, maybe thinking they're a little crazy. But hear me out!

Our hot, dry weather can cause the soil around your home to dry out and shrink. That movement can put stress on your foundation and, over time, may contribute to cracks and other issues.

Keeping the soil around your foundation consistently and evenly moist can help:
🏠 Reduce extreme soil movement
💧 Maintain more stable moisture levels around your home
🧱 Help protect your foundation from unnecessary stress
💰 Potentially prevent costly repairs down the road

A soaker hose placed a few inches away from the foundation can be a simple way to help maintain moisture. The goal is consistent moisture, not a muddy mess!

Will your current policy cover you if your foundation is damaged? Give us a call and let's find out. Stay cool, y'all! ☀️
