The president’s new housing affordability executive order sounds great on paper, but how much will it actually help homebuyers?
I went through the executive order, and while I think it’s a step in the right direction, I don’t see it making a meaningful difference in affordability for most buyers anytime soon.
Lower closing costs, easier PMI removal, and fewer regulatory hurdles are all positive developments. But they don’t address the biggest challenges facing buyers today: home prices, housing supply, and borrowing costs.
Progress? Absolutely. A solution to housing affordability? Not even close.
