Oooof-da! I updated my email and text message auto-responses for out-of-office and realized that I failed to do so here. I am doing this now in hopes to catch some people before they are wondering why I am not returning calls/messages or so they don’t have to wait for a bounced-back email.
I set my out-of-office time for 5-7 days to recover which put me coming back on Monday, May 7. Truth be told, I thought I would actually just need the weekend to recover from my outpatient knee surgery on Friday and life would resume to (our) “normal” this past Monday…I actually ran back into the house to update my email settings last-minute while Clint waited for me, just in case. Well, for once in my life, I was wrong!? 😝 Not ever having anything medical, other than delivering our 3 babes, and the last time I had full anesthesia was when I had a tonsillectomy at like age 3 so I basically had ZERO idea what I was in for with post-surgery recovery and that I actually would be knocked down to my bottom, slow down and sit some things out. Boy, I now feel silly that I actually called and asked my surgeon’s office if I would still be able to travel with my family to Des Moines for the baseball tourney over the weekend! 🫣🤭 Since the moment we had gotten home, I was walking like a healthy human being again since that dreadful step & slide down from my car and onto an ice patch back in Feb. I do think my 24hr drug-induced slumber from late Fri afternoon to sometime Saturday afternoon pinched and inflMarie Millerve in my neck/upperBlake Jeffresit was either that in my awkward sleepin-like-a-baby position or my whiplash receibed from my vomitting episodes after I tried to eat a couple times Fridsy night. I didn’t even hear the neighbors bring food into the house, start oven and Marsha going nuts since the family was at a basketball game (PS grateful for an amazing support system of our family and friends checking in and supporting us and helping with the kids). I am also thankful for those who chose careers in the medical field; for their patience, their knowledge and my surgeon’s expert hand and his OR/clinic team to have fixed my torn meniscus. I am also grateful for the after-care care folks I have relied on this week for fixing the part of my body that isn’t even close to my damn knee!! Amber at Massage Envy on Maple and Dr. Marie Miller at Chiropractic Bennington. Blake Jeffres and RJ…Dr. Cheng did such a fantastic job that I didn’t even need to use my Dad’s cane on Friday (or any medical device walking helper) so it looks like I won’t need to hang with or bug you guys after all! 🤣
So, now that I have everybody’s sympathy with my post-anesthesia and surgery woes…I did not take time off during Covid, I did not take a true maternity leave with Claire and I suffered a complete exhaustion and burnout after I did not take time off during/after the extremely long, busy 2024 Storm & Claims Season.
I AM older and wiser at this chapter of my story so I am actually taking the time needed to rest and recharge and fully unplugging (but…. I am still going to try to beat coming back my original posted date, bevsuse I love a good challenge…even if it is with myself! I am going to venture out to the big kids’ softball and baseball games tonight to get some fresh air and cheer them on with my out-of-office notifications still on! What a feelng that wilk be!
