We hope that everyone is safe after Friday's devastating storm that affected the Greater Omaha area as well as other parts of Nebraska and Iowa.
Keep the following in mind:
If you have storm damage to your home, if possible, please call your insurance agent before contacting your claims department. Not-so-fun fact: calling your claims department will automatically open a claim, even if you are calling just to ask a question. We want to ensure your damage exceeds your deductible before filing a claim. Once a claim is opened, it is opened, even if $0 is paid out in the end.
If your home is damaged and needs tarps or repairs, we strongly encourage you to reach out to a TRUSTED and LOCAL roofing company. We know some great ones in the Omaha and Lincoln areas if you need some referrals. If you believe you have damage, please call, text, or E-mail our office (our contact info is below).
We encourage you not to sign ANYTHING "authorizing" a contractor to "handle your claim." There are many excellent local companies who will inspect your home for no charge. If your home needs to be tarped, boarded up, etc., they will do it and charge you a reasonable price. Keep your receipts and invoices. If you ultimately do have a claim, all of the emergency repairs will be considered part of the loss.
Omaha has been in the national news for nearly 24 hours now. There will be dozens of roofers and contractors pouring into Omaha within the next few days. Do yourself a favor and work with a LOCAL company. Again, we have many good, reputable companies here in Omaha. These people are our neighbors. Our kids go to school together. We worship together. You see them at the grocery store. They want to take care of us. They want our community to be rebuilt, and they will be here to help it happen.
Regardless of who insures you, rebuilding will be a process. Please be patient with your agents and claim adjusters. We are doing everything possible to help!
