Thrilling news for Homer!

On behalf of the City of Homer, our harbor users, and the 135+ Alaska communities who depend on freight deliveries through Homer Port and Harbor, we are deeply grateful to have been awarded $11.2M from the FY25 Port Infrastructure Development Program to replace System 4 in Homer Harbor! We thank Senators Lisa Murkowski and Dan Sullivan and Congressman Begich for championing this vital project! Thank you!

The award recognizes Homer Harbor's essential role in Alaska's transportation network and the urgent need to replace this aging float infrastructure, some of which has been in service over 60 years! While it will take some time to work through the grant process and fund obligation, we are eager to partner with MARAD to bring this critical infrastructure investment across the finish line and ensure safe, reliable harbor operations for generations to come!
