If your organization does not have a social media policy, now is the time to institute one. This should be crafted in connection with a legal professional.

Employees can bring great harm and unwanted attention to a business through use of social media. Even if it’s on an employees private account on their own time. A code of conduct should outline unacceptable activities that could result in termination of employment.

Thirty years ago, Business Insurance Associates opened the doors for business and we celebrate our amazing staff, clients, vendors, carrier partners and others who are part of our story. Our original founder, Susie Coates, sadly passed away in November 2024, but her legacy and spirit lives on every day through the work we do and our place in the Alaska business community.

Happy New Year. Our offices are closed for the holiday and will reopen on January 2.

It’s with a heavy heart that we mourn the passing of our founder, Susan Coates. She passed away on Monday, November 18th in Belchertown, Massachusetts’s at the age of 78. Susie began her insurance career in 1975 in Fairbanks, Alaska with State Farm. After working at several firms over the years, the started Business Insurance Associates in 1995, and ran it until 2010. She will be deeply missed by all.
