Looks like a wet long weekend for parts of the South Island 🌧️
MetService has issued Heavy Rain Warnings for northern and western areas, with significant rainfall expected from Sunday through to early Tuesday.
Impacts may include rapidly rising rivers, surface flooding, slips, and dangerous driving conditions, so it’s important to be prepared.

👉 Avoid low-lying or flood-prone areas
👉 Take extra care on the roads
Heavy rain is also expected to move north, with potential impacts for the North Island from Monday, so keep an eye on the latest forecasts.

🟧 ‼️Orange Warnings issued for Significant Heavy Rain over northern and western part of the South Island.
Valid from Sunday morning to Monday night (western parts) or Tuesday morning (northern parts).
250mmto 450mm of rain is forecast. 📈
❓️The Tasman District northwest of Motueka has a moderate change of upgrading to a Red Warning, while the others are a low risk.
Impacts: Streams and rivers may rise rapidly. Surface flooding, slips, and difficult driving conditions possible. ❗️
⏱️Keep up to date with the latest forecasts as the trough is likely to bring heavy rain and northeast gales to the northern half of the North Island from Monday and more warnings are likely to be issued in the coming days.
