Looks like a wet long weekend for parts of the South Island 🌧️

MetService has issued Heavy Rain Warnings for northern and western areas, with significant rainfall expected from Sunday through to early Tuesday.

Impacts may include rapidly rising rivers, surface flooding, slips, and dangerous driving conditions, so it’s important to be prepared.

👉 Clear your gutters and drains
👉 Avoid low-lying or flood-prone areas
👉 Take extra care on the roads

Heavy rain is also expected to move north, with potential impacts for the North Island from Monday, so keep an eye on the latest forecasts.

If you’re impacted, we’ve put together information on what to do and how to make a claim: https://www.fmg.co.nz/advice/disaster-information/storm-and-flood

As always, stay safe, look after each other, and check in on your neighbours 💚

🟧 ‼️Orange Warnings issued for Significant Heavy Rain over northern and western part of the South Island.

Valid from Sunday morning to Monday night (western parts) or Tuesday morning (northern parts).

250mmto 450mm of rain is forecast. 📈

❓️The Tasman District northwest of Motueka has a moderate change of upgrading to a Red Warning, while the others are a low risk.

Impacts: Streams and rivers may rise rapidly. Surface flooding, slips, and difficult driving conditions possible. ❗️

⏱️Keep up to date with the latest forecasts as the trough is likely to bring heavy rain and northeast gales to the northern half of the North Island from Monday and more warnings are likely to be issued in the coming days.

A huge congratulations to all the 2026 Beef + Lamb New Zealand Award winners!

A special congratulations to the FMG Rural Champion Award winner, Kristy McGregor.

After seeing the isolation many rural women face, Kristy launched Shepherdess Magazine in 2020 to connect people in rural communities through storytelling, community-building and events. Since then, it has grown an audience of over 60,000 people across print, digital and social.

Judges said Shepherdess punches above its weight - shaping how rural women see themselves and strengthening community connection and shifting how the wider public views the rural sector. They commended Kristy for creating a platform that shares real, authentic stories, with a strong focus on women in sheep and beef farming and rural Māori and Pasifika communities.

Once again, a huge congratulations to all the winners!

Good chats, a few sweet treats, and a whole lot of pink 🩷

On Friday, our teams came together for Pink Shirt Day to take a stand against bullying in our schools, workplaces and communities.
