Youm is a supporter of Kind Hearts Manawatu and today we presented a Kindness Bench seat to PN Intermediate School. Kind Hearts do amazing work in our community and foster acts of kindness and help spread this.

The seats can be seen around several schools and are designed for pupils to sit if they are in need of a kind word or support.

The Reserve Bank of New Zealand (RBNZ) has kept the Official Cash Rate (OCR) unchanged at 2.25%.

The decision was closely split, with three committee members, including Governor Anna Breman, voting to hold rates, while three others pushed for a 25 basis point increase. Breman cast the deciding vote.

The Monetary Policy Committee expects inflation to peak at 4.3% in the September quarter before gradually returning to the 2% target midpoint by mid-2027.

However, the RBNZ signalled that rate hikes could arrive sooner and be larger than previously projected in the February Monetary Policy Statement.
