The first quarter of 2026 has not been pretty for investors.

When markets fall, the biggest risk isn’t tech stocks, it’s investor behaviour.

Our adviser Jeremy Sullivan was quoted in the nzherald.co.nz on the recent US tech stock volatility and why reacting emotionally with KiwiSaver can do more damage than the downturn itself.

Bitcoin’s recent “violent liquidation” has put cryptocurrency volatility back in the headlines.

Our adviser Jeremy Sullivan was featured in a new Stuff article by Damien Venuto, discussing:

How a rapid liquidation of leveraged positions turned a normal pullback into a sharp sell-off

Why Bitcoin is still behaving like a high-risk asset, rather than “digital gold”

How nervousness around AI and tech valuations is leading investors to trim risk, including crypto

At Hamilton Hindin Greene, we continue to see cryptocurrencies as a speculative satellite holding at best, not the foundation of a long-term investment plan.

If you would like to talk about how (or whether) crypto fits into a diversified portfolio, Jeremy and our advisory team are happy to help.

Bitcoin has been hammered. Damien Venuto looks at what’s gone wrong for the cryptocurrency that was meant to be digital gold.

Winning $55m sounds fantastic… until you try to keep it, grow it, and stay sane doing it.

Stuff asked our adviser Jeremy Sullivan, what a Lotto winner should do, and his advice was pretty simple:
pause, breathe, and get proper advice.

"A financial adviser will look well beyond the numbers. They’ll take your risk tolerance, long-term goals, and any ethical or charitable intentions into account, and then build a strategy around that. The aim is to create a plan that protects the windfall and stands the test of time.

A good advisory group will help you structure the money safely, protect your privacy, and build a long-term plan that aligns with what you actually want from life,”.

If you (or someone you know) are suddenly holding the lucky ticket on Sunday morning, call me, we'd be happy to have a private discussion.

The little things add up.

Out adviser, Jeremy Sullivan spoke with Stuff this week about how small money habits can make a big difference, especially when it comes to your mortgage.

An extra $60 a week might not sound like much, but over time it can shave years off your loan and save tens of thousands in interest.

As he said in the article, “Compounding works both ways. Every dollar spent today is a dollar that isn’t compounding for your future.”

Achieving financial freedom isn’t about big sacrifices, it’s about small, consistent choices that move you forward.

An extra bit of money can go a long way if it’s put in the right place, writes Damien Venuto.

Artificial intelligence is reshaping the global economy but not everyone’s moving in the same direction.

In this month’s video, HHG adviser Sarah Brennan explains the rise of the K-shaped economy. Where some sectors and workers are soaring while others struggle to keep up.

Q3 Market Snapshot with Investment Adviser, Sarah Brennan.

Three quarters of 2025 are now behind us, and the picture has been mixed depending on where you’re invested.

📉 NZ’s GDP contracted by 0.9% in the June quarter, dragging the NZX50 to just +1.6% YTD.

📈 Offshore markets have been far stronger. Australia’s ASX200 is up 7.9%, the US S&P 500 has gained 14%, and global shares outside the US have surged 23%.

🌏 Diversification has been the clear winner this year, with investors capturing growth from multiple regions.

Looking ahead:
The RBNZ is widely expected to cut the OCR in October and November, but how much?
Did you know, history shows the final quarter of the year is often supportive for share markets especially in the US.

Sarah breaks it all down in her latest video. Watch now and stay informed!

Most people don’t want a product: They want someone in their corner.

That’s why many high-net-worth families choose independent advisers: no sales agendas, more straight talk, and a plan that actually fits their lives.

At HHG, independence means:

1) Portfolios built around your goals.
2) Clear reporting you can understand.
3) A relationship that sticks through market noise and life changes.

If that’s the kind of partnership you want, this explains our approach in plain English.
