A new chapter for Shaw and Partners New Zealand.

Yesterday, we were proud to open the doors to our new Auckland office.

This is more than just a relocation. It is a significant step forward for our business and a reflection of the growth, confidence and direction that continue to shape our future. As we continue to evolve in New Zealand, this move represents a new phase for Shaw and Partners, strengthening our presence in the local market and creating a space designed around what matters most: our people, our clients, and the relationships we build with them.

While this new office marks an important milestone for our business, our focus remains unchanged. We continue to place our clients at the forefront of everything we do, providing trusted advice, building enduring relationships, and helping individuals and families achieve their long-term financial goals.

While this move honours the foundations that have shaped our journey, it is ultimately about looking ahead. It reflects the momentum and ambition of our business, a renewed energy for the future, and our long-term commitment to New Zealand and the clients and communities we are privileged to serve.

Welcome to the September Quarter Edition of Shaw and Partners Financial Services Investment Perspectives.

Technology continues to redefine the investment landscape. Artificial intelligence is no longer simply a disruptive innovation confined to the technology sector. It is becoming the infrastructure underpinning the next generation of economic growth. Investment Perspectives brings together our latest market and asset allocation views, insights from leading fund managers, and high-conviction research ideas, with a clear focus on practical application. In a more uncertain and volatile environment, maintaining discipline, diversification and a well-defined investment framework remains critical.

The Reserve Bank of New Zealand has raised the official cash rate by 25 basis points, to 2.50%. With inflation projected to rise, this may reduce the real purchasing power of term deposits. A diversified investment portfolio may help investors manage the effects of inflation and changing market conditions.

At Shaw and Partners, we work closely with you to build tailored investment portfolios designed to navigate changing interest rate conditions while aiming to preserve and grow your wealth.

OCR Increased to 2.50%

The Reserve Bank of New Zealand has increased the Official Cash Rate (OCR) by 25 basis points to 2.50%. While recent declines in energy prices have eased some inflation pressures, the Bank noted that inflation remains above target and that future OCR decisions will continue to be guided by economic data and inflation trends.

For New Zealand households and businesses, movements in the OCR can influence borrowing costs, term deposits, mortgage rates, savings returns and broader economic activity, making it an important indicator for financial planning and investment decisions.

If you would like to discuss what the latest OCR decision could mean for your financial position or long-term investment strategy, contact your Shaw and Partners adviser.
