Here are some things that you need to consider when buying that first home:

House hunt with a first home mentality; close the gap between your budget and the type of property you see yourself buying, to better align with the reality of what you can buy now vs what you may be looking to buy in the future.

Stick to your budget; understand your house buying budget, and don't get distracted by the bright lights of a house your mates bought 10yrs ago

Add value over time; where possible, try and find a property that you could add value to over time e.g. paint walls, build fencing, upgrade kitchens or bathrooms.

Future investment; look at how your first home may stack up as an investment property for you in the future.
