WHEN AND WHY SHOULD YOU REMORTGAGE❓
The main reason for remortgaging is because your current mortgage deal is ending or it has already ended and your mortgage is now on the lenders standard variable rate (SVR).
However there are many other reasons why you may consider remortgaging, regardless of whether your current deal is ending. These include to:
✅ Save money by switching to a lower interest rate.
✅ Release equity in your home to raise funds for home improvements.
✅ Release equity to raise funds to buy another property.
✅ Remove or add a partner/spouse onto the mortgage (this is known as a Transfer of Equity).
✅ Consolidate debts such as credit cards and personal loans (this is known as debt consolidation).
If your current mortgage deal is ending over the coming months, it is possible to secure a new deal upto 6 months before. Our advice is always to be prepared well in advance of your existing rate ending.
We also recommend you make sure you speak to a mortgage broker who is whole of market, such as The Mortgage Pride, so you can be confident that you are getting the most cost-effective deal for you.
*Your home may be repossessed in the event you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage. You may have to pay an early repayment charge to your existing lender if you remortgage. Think carefully before securing other debts against your home. Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage.
