Been declined for a mortgage? It might not be the end of the road 🔑
A mortgage decline from a high street lender can feel like the door has been firmly closed. But for many people, it is simply a sign that they have knocked on the wrong door.
Gill Parsons, our Equity Release, Mortgage & Protection Adviser here at Brunel Independent Mortgages, recently helped a client who had been turned down by a mainstream lender after missing payments on an account for three consecutive months.
Most lenders will automatically decline any application where more than two missed payments appear within the last two years - regardless of everything else on the file.
The client had an excellent credit profile in all other respects, so Gill managed to place the case with a lender where an underwriter would manually assess the application, consider the positives, and could see that they outweighed the negatives.
The mortgage was approved.
