Moving Art Management is a dance producing company for the North East of England. Based at Dance City in Newcastle upon Tyne, we specialise in producing scratch platforms, work for the stage and dance film. We provide professional development opportunities for artists, financial bursaries, resources and mentoring.

Look back at an amazing week in Oberhausen with the NE x NRW Hip Hop Exchange crew!

North East dancers Niamh Green, Connor Gribben and Rob Anderson flew out to Germany for a week of creative and cultural exchange last month.

This was an inspiring, eye-opening trip for everyone, with ideas shared around choreography, event management, creative exploration and funding structures, which everyone can take back and apply in their own urban community.

We can’t wait to host our German counterparts next year in Newcastle and build on this relationship – follow for updates!

Our Pathways to Producing sessions are underway for Autumn 2026!

The new season of specialist training for emerging Newcastle producers kicked off with a dedicated marketing and PR session at Alphabetti Theatre this week. Thank you to everyone that joined us and helped make it such a constructive session!

Congrats to our client Jess Birks from Waggle Dance Co., who secured Arts Council England funding for a 6-month R&D project towards her new production Fairytale Salad – a children's dance theatre work, rooted in storytelling.

"I am so happy to be working alongside MAM again successfully getting my R&D funding,” said Jess. “This has allowed me to work on my artistic practice and have time to develop ideas in the studio, collaborate with other artists, and next month I'll be heading to Galway as part of my 'Go and See' fund to research further children's dance theatre at Baboro International Arts Festival for Children in its 30th year!”

Zoe Katsilerou has been awarded funding to develop a new work that explores intergenerational connections through dance, song and embodied memories, using weaving as a metaphor and inspiration for choreography.

We are thrilled that our fundraising support has unlocked this exciting opportunity for Zoe and the MOV Dance Theatre team, with special thanks to Arts Council England National Lottery Project Grants for the award.

Zoe’s team at MOV are making the work in Bradford – we are excited to be joining Zoe in the studio later this month to see it’s progress!

PRODUCER DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITY!

We’re delighted to be bringing back our Pathways to Producing programme this autumn for emerging producers in the Creative Central Newcastle area!

MAM recently sponsored artist Sarah Nelson, with a £200 grant to support a research trip to Paris.

Sarah is a visual artist based in County Durham. In June, she went to Paris to see Matisse's large paper cut outs in 'Matisse 1941-54'. Beginning to experiment with cut outs in her own figurative work, Sarah wanted to experience the pioneer of the genre first hand. She was also able to visit The Musee Picasso in The Marais – like Matisse, Picasso was “a master of distilled form through simple bold linear gestures”.

Being able to study these works in person helped Sarah understand how they were created and assembled to form the finished works, developing her practice as a result.

Sarah said of the trip: “It was amazing to receive the bursary from Moving Art Management to facilitate the Paris trip. Only when we are able to see a work close up can we truly appreciate the story of the journey behind it. I'm inspired to be bigger and bolder in my own cut out journey and look forward to sharing results in the future.”

A massive welcome to the newest member of the MAM team! Ryan Hay joins us as a producer, artist and dramaturg based between Newcastle and Glasgow. Ryan has worked in a range of roles in theatre, classical music and community practice. They will be working with MAM’s clients and on our flagship projects, continuing MAM’s reputation for making exceptional creative projects happen across the region.
