Preston Park parkrun

Preston Park parkrun www.parkrun.org.uk/prestonpark is a free 5k run held every Saturday at 9am in Preston Park, Brighton.

We welcome runners, joggers and walkers, dogs (must be on a short lead), under 11s (in arm's reach of their adult) and buggies. Preston Park parkrun ([email protected]) is part of the worldwide parkrun family, 5k runs at the same time every Saturday (9 am in Engkand and Wales), completely free with no registration fee and no fee to run each week. You can register at www.parkrun.org.uk/

register and www.parkrun.com is the parent webpage, from here you can see details of all 200+ runs around the world, you can turn up at any of these with your barcode and run. parkrun is completely organised by volunteers, if you run it would be good if you would also volunteer 3 times a year although running isn't compulsory for volunteers, if you are unable to run but would like to be part of parkrun to support other runners and enjoy the social side then please come along and help

We welcome runners/joggers of any standard, if you can run 5k in 15 mins then use it as part of your training, if you can do it in 45/50 mins then come along to have some exercise, get a bit fitter and socialise with us. We encourage runners to join us at the chalet cafe for coffee and a chat after the run. Preston Park parkrun would like to thank Brighton and Hove Council for their financial support in getting our run started.

In all this heat though please do take care to make sure Fido is cool and hydrated.

There is water available from the loos at the Chalet Cafe, and this useful chart gives some advice on safe temperatures for dogs…

If you go past the park, you'll see that the Pride build has started and part of our route is fenced off but the good news is that we've been talking to the build team over the last few weeks, and they are going to open up that part of the route for us :)

Obviously next week, Aug 1st, we will be cancelled.

As mentioned in an earlier post, we are back next week (though Pride will be setting up around us), but there is no parkrun in Preston park on the 1st August during Pride weekend. See the run report for some other parkrun options to choose from.

Pride build will have started next week, but we can still run, but there will be extra fences etc on the course, so take extra care.

Hove Prom also cancelled on 1st so a good weekend to try a different parkrun (if you're not involved or watching the parade).

P694, where are you!!

Only 1 token missing this week, and 1 returned by someone who accidentally took it home last week, so net zero!

If you ever take a token by mistake (even some of the core team have done it!) you can always hand it back the next week and we'll add it to the spares ready to use if it goes missing again.

(694 didn't scan so we don't know who it was, but wouldn't name and shame anyway!)
