50 years on the ground in New Zealand and still growing.

When a. hartrodt New Zealand was founded, few could have predicted the company would still be shaping trade between the South Pacific and the world five decades later. Today, the Auckland-based team - plus a growing presence in Christchurch - manages 1,650 sqm of warehouse space and a customer portfolio that keeps expanding: w**e, food, medical products, specialised manufacturing.

Vanessa Burns, Managing Director and a. hartrodt veteran of almost 33 years, sums it up simply:

"Half a century of trusted logistics partnerships built on consistency, local expertise and a global connection."

From Uwe Schmutzler's founding vision, through John Pyman's 25 years at the helm, to Vanessa's leadership since 2023 - the constant has been an ability to adapt without losing what makes the company work: deep local knowledge paired with a global network.

Right now, that means investing in AI-enabled operations, automation and better digital visibility for customers - while navigating real headwinds: an upcoming election, cautious domestic sentiment, and geopolitical shifts reshaping freight capacity, transit times and costs.

🚴 a. hartrodt at Cyclassics Hamburg 2026 — 13 riders, one team 💪

On August 16, ~12,000 amateur cyclists hit the streets of Hamburg for the Jedermann race and of course, we were there too!

Our squad this year: 13 riders, made up of employees, customers & business partners. Smaller than in previous years, but just as motivated 🔥

The result? Everyone crossed the finish line safe, healthy, and proud of having finished the demanding 60 or 110 km course 👏

Big news from Northeast Asia! 🌏

Kenan Ertuerk has taken on the role of Regional Sales Manager at a. hartrodt in Northeast Asia, where he will lead a team of over 50 sales colleagues across China, Japan and Korea.

Having been based in Shanghai for over 14 years, Kenan brings a wealth of regional expertise and a clear ambition to the role: to support Asian companies in expanding internationally and to grow alongside them in the long term.

He will focus on renewable energy, construction, and mechanical engineering, sectors in which Chinese exports and acquisitions are reshaping international trade flows.

Kenan succeeds Luca Cerruti, who successfully grew the division over the course of four years before returning to his family's business in Italy.

Welcome aboard, Kenan, and congratulations on this new chapter! 👏

🎉 80 years of experience. Two 40-year careers. One shared passion for Latin America. 🌎

In 1986, Jan van Tienhoven joined a. hartrodt as co-owner alongside his father. That same year, Claus Wendland boarded a flight from Hamburg to South America, fresh out of his freight forwarding apprenticeship.

Today, they are both celebrating 40 years with the company. They both say that Latin America shaped them as leaders.
Jan's journey took him from Australia to Buenos Aires, where he learned that flexibility and trust matter just as much as perfect logistics.

🐘🦒🦙 Claus grew up in Peru and Germany before working at a. hartrodt Chile. His job description once included air-freighting a baby elephant and shipping giraffes in open-top containers. "Spontaneity and improvisation often get you further," he says.
Their takeaway after four decades? Latin America is more than just a market they served; it is a region that shaped their leadership style.
