It’s time to reintroduce one of the quiet powerhouses behind Cultivate + Evolve Financial.

Catherine first met Madeline through the UBCO co-op program in January 2025, and it did not take long for her to become an essential part of the team.

Smart, thoughtful, hardworking, and remarkably capable, Madeline has a way of quietly keeping everything moving while making the complicated parts of the mortgage process feel far more manageable.

As our Unlicensed Mortgage Assistant and Client Care Coordinator, she supports clients throughout the mortgage journey by helping with document collection and review, lender and solicitor coordination, file management, client communication, and the many administrative details required to move a mortgage from application through to funding.

Since joining us, Madeline has completed her Bachelor of Management at UBCO, continued her role with Cultivate + Evolve, and recently moved back home to Calgary. Her next goal is to begin the education required to become a licensed mortgage broker, and we could not be more excited to see where that path takes her.

A few things you may not know about Madeline:

✦ She grew up in Calgary and loves the outdoors, the Stampede, and the city’s food scene
✦ She spent 10 years as a competitive dancer, studying everything from ballet to contemporary
✦ She loves to paint, especially with watercolours and acrylics

Madeline is not someone who seeks the spotlight, but she deserves a little time in it.

We are incredibly lucky to have her intelligence, care, and steady hand behind so much of what we do.

Tawny knows when the workday is done, it’s time for a treat.

After a busy week of supervising mortgage files, greeting clients, and generally keeping the team on track, a stop at The Mission Creamery felt well earned.

We’re big believers in celebrating the little wins, supporting local, and making time for the things that make home and community feel special.

Tawny, of course, remains firmly convinced she is carrying the entire mortgage operation. Smile by the scoop indeed!

**Feature Friday: Local Business Love**

One of the greatest gifts of living and working in a community for a long time is getting to watch your friends pursue their dreams.

This week, I'm excited to celebrate one of my longest-standing friends, Brooklynn, who has recently opened her own salon, Brooklynn's Hair Design, right here in downtown Kelowna.

I've known Brooklynn for years, and after 11 years in the industry, she has built a reputation for combining creativity, technical skill, and genuine care for her clients. Trained at both Aveda and Vidal Sassoon, she's known for her beautiful custom colours and precision cuts that are tailored to each person's unique style and lifestyle.

On May 22nd, I had the pleasure of sitting in her chair for a fresh cut, and as anyone who knows me can attest, my hair can occasionally have a mind of its own. If Brooklynn can tame that beast, she can work wonders for just about anyone.

What I love most is that she's created a cozy, private, one-on-one space where clients can relax, feel heard, and enjoy an unrushed experience from start to finish. It's a reflection of the care and professionalism she's brought to her work for more than a decade.

If you're looking for a stylist who truly loves what she does, I highly recommend checking her out.

Congratulations, Brooklynn. I'm so proud of you and excited to see this next chapter unfold.

If you’ve ever received a gift from us, clicked through our website, read one of our newsletters, filled out a form that actually worked, or wondered who helps keep the behind-the-scenes pieces moving — Andrew probably had something to do with it.

Andrew runs Melville Creative Strategy and brings a rare mix of design, marketing, wine industry experience, technical know-how, and practical problem-solving to the table.

Since joining CE Financial in 2020, he has helped support our social media, website, newsletters, client gifting, referral programs, automations, IT odds and ends, and plenty of “can you take a quick look at this?” moments.

Equal parts design brain, marketing engine, spreadsheet wrangler, and calm voice when technology decides to be technology.

We may not get the pleasure of having Andrew full-time anymore, but we are very lucky to still have him in our corner.

He has a real gift for helping people and brands feel more like themselves, and we’re grateful for the care, creativity, and clarity he brings to the work.

Tawny also approves. He found a deal on bully sticks, so loyalty has officially been secured.

Home is where the pets are.

We talk a lot about mortgages, renewals, rate holds, and planning for the future, but at the heart of it all, home is about the people — and pets — who make it feel like yours.

So this month, we’re launching something fun: Mortgage Helper of the Month.

Dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, senior pets, rescue pets, chaos gremlins in fur coats — we want to see them all.

To enter:
• Follow Cultivate + Evolve Financial
• Comment with your pet’s name
• Bonus points for sharing a photo or story
• Tag a fellow pet-loving friend

Each month, we’ll choose one featured pet and send a little local pet-friendly prize their way.

Because whether they’re helping with paperwork, sitting on the keyboard, or supervising snack time, pets are part of the home story too.

I had the chance to attend the BC Lenders Group Association event in Kelowna, which brought together so many great people from across the mortgage industry.

It was a valuable day of learning, connecting, and hearing different perspectives from lenders, insurers, appraisers, lawyers, service providers, brokerage leaders, and fellow brokers.

A few big themes stood out: upcoming clarity around the GST rebate on new builds, changes coming to broker licensing and professional standards, and the importance of strong communication and client care in a changing environment.

For me, the biggest takeaway was simple: the client experience matters more than ever.

As the mortgage world continues to evolve, I want to make sure my clients feel informed, supported, and confident at every step. That means staying current, asking good questions, collaborating with the right people, and continuing to learn.

It was also lovely to reconnect with old friends and spend time with people who care deeply about doing good work in this industry.

Life has changed, and now you’re wondering what that means for your home, your mortgage, and your next step.

Maybe it’s:

a separation or major life shift
a change in income
a growing family with new space needs
a home that simply doesn’t fit the way it used to

These situations are more common than people think, and getting clear on your options early can make the next step feel much more manageable.

You do not need to have everything figured out right away.
No pressure. Just a conversation about what fits now.

Buying a home involves a lot of moving parts, and good timing can make a big difference.

A little planning ahead can help you:
• understand the timeline
• prepare financially
• stay organized
• and make more confident decisions along the way

The process tends to feel much less overwhelming when you have a clear plan in place before things start moving quickly.

The more prepared you are, the smoother the journey tends to be.

(And yes, calendars suddenly become very important.)
