Edward Jones-Financial Advisor: Blaire Webster

Edward Jones-Financial Advisor: Blaire Webster Financial Advisor in Grande Prairie helping Albertans with retirement income, pension/LIRA decisions and business transition planning.

Hi, I’m Blaire Webster — a Financial Advisor in Grande Prairie, Alberta (CEA®, CEPA®). I help people feel confident about their next big financial chapter — whether that’s retiring, making sense of pension or LIRA options, or preparing to eventually step away from a business they’ve spent years building. Most of the people I work with are asking questions like:
• “Will I have enough to retire comf

ortably?”
• “What should I do with my pension or LIRA when I leave my employer?”
• “How do I turn my business into personal financial security?”
• “How do I build income that lasts?”

My job is to help bring clarity to these moments so you can move forward with confidence. I commonly work with:
• Pre-retirees and retirees planning their income and tax strategy
• Business owners preparing for a transition or future exit
• Individuals with pensions or locked-in accounts (LIRAs) who want plain-English guidance
• Families wanting to align finances with long-term goals

My approach is simple:

I listen, get to know what matters most to you, help you understand your options clearly, and build a strategy that fits your goals and lifestyle. I stay in touch, adjust the plan as life changes, and make sure you never feel alone in the process. As a Financial Advisor with the Certified Executor Advisor (CEA®) and Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA®) designations, I bring training and experience in retirement income planning, legacy considerations, succession and transition planning. I’m proud to serve clients throughout Grande Prairie and northern Alberta. Outside of the office, you’ll usually find me camping with my family, hiking in the Rockies, or squeezing in a game of squash or pickleball. If you have questions about retirement, pensions/LIRAs, or planning for life after business ownership, feel free to reach out anytime. I’m always happy to help — no pressure, just a conversation.

A Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP) can be an effective way to prepare for future education costs, but it’s important to understand your options if plans change.

RESP rules outline how contributions, earnings and government incentives are treated, and with the right approach, it’s often possible to preserve a significant portion of the savings while managing any tax implications.

If you’d like guidance on how to navigate RESP decisions and protect the value of your contributions, I’m here to help.

You may have been investing for years for your child or grandchild's post-secondary education. But what happens if they decide not to go to university or college? In this article, we outline what happens to your contributions, the government grants and investment growth.

A well-designed portfolio is more than a collection of investments. It's built around a clearly defined portfolio objective that guides how your investments are managed over time.

That objective is shaped by two important factors: where you are in life and how much investment risk you're comfortable taking.

For someone in the early stages of investing with a higher tolerance for risk, a growth-focused objective might be appropriate. For someone closer to retirement, a focus on income or preserving wealth may be a higher priority.

The result is an investment strategy designed to support the future you’re building, while considering your unique financial situation and your comfort with risk.

Is your portfolio working toward the right objective? Let's review your investment strategy and ensure it’s aligned to your long-term goals.

Many people think financial planning means picking investments, but investing is just one piece of a much bigger picture.

A real financial plan starts with your goals:

• Paying for your child's education
• Buying that dream cottage
• Retiring on your terms
• Leaving a legacy

Those goals are supported by a strategy where seven components work together:

✅ Financial management
✅ Asset management
✅ Tax considerations
✅ Retirement planning
✅ Risk management
✅ Estate planning
✅ Business planning

Alignment across these areas is what turns a strategy into a real plan.

Let’s talk about building a plan that puts you in control of your financial life.

The burden of proof shifts back to AI skeptics. NVIDIA's earnings reinforced that AI demand and spending remain robust, with customer demand continuing to outpace supply and little evidence that the AI investment cycle is nearing an end.

Our colleague Julie Petrera, Director of Financial Planning at Edward Jones Canada, recently spoke with The Canadian Press about the RESP withdrawal mistakes families make as the school year approaches.

Why does this matter to us? Because RESPs are one of the most important tools Canadian families use to invest in their children's education, and the decisions around withdrawals can have a real impact on taxes, growth, and whether the money is there when it's needed.

We share our insights with credible media because we want to meet families where they are — with topical, practical guidance they can trust. Articles like this one help us extend our reach beyond our offices and into the homes of families across Canada who are navigating these moments for the first time.

Have a look, and if you're working through an RESP withdrawal, let's talk.

A new school year is just around the corner, and for many families that means it's time to start drawing from an RESP.

Julie Petrera, our Director of Financial Planning at Edward Jones Canada, shared some helpful perspective in The Canadian Press on the mistakes to avoid — like taking from the wrong portion of the account first, or leaving too much invested in equities too close to withdrawal time.

We work with media to share insights like these because the families we serve are asking these same questions every day. By contributing to credible publications, we help bring timely, trustworthy guidance to clients and families across Canada — not just in our own communities, but wherever these conversations are happening.

If education planning is on your mind, reach out. We're here to help.

Stocks are a cornerstone of many investment portfolios because of the potential they offer for long-term growth. But with that potential comes periods of market volatility.

Although market swings can feel unsettling, they're a normal part of investing.

The key to staying on track is to remain focused on your long-term strategy, not short-term ups and downs.

If you'd like a second opinion on your portfolio or want to review your investment strategy, I'd be happy to help. Let's connect.

Equities can add diversification and serve as a growth engine to help build value over time.
