WA Day looks a little different for our police officers. 🚔💙
Today, while most people are enjoying the long weekend, police officers across WA are still out there working to keep the community safe.
If you see an officer on duty today, take a moment to show some appreciation:
✨ Say thank you
✨ Give them a high five
✨ Grab a selfie
✨ Tag us using so we can share the love
Let’s make this WA Day one to remember for the officers who show up for WA every single day.

"As a police officer, I know public holidays are part of the job."
"We work while others celebrate. We miss family lunches, weekends away, and time with our kids, because the community still needs us 👮‍♀️"
What many people don’t realise is that WA police officers don’t receive the same public holiday penalty rates that many other workers across WA do.
This campaign isn’t about refusing to work public holidays. It’s about fairness and recognition.
We’re asking the community to stand with us and help raise awareness for equal public holiday pay for the officers who continue serving WA every single holiday 💙

Meaningful Change Happens When We are All in

Reconciliation is more than a moment.
More than a statement.
More than a week.
It’s built through listening.
Through respect.
Through action.
Through accountability.

This National Reconciliation Week, we stand committed to strengthening relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities across Western Australia.
Because meaningful change happens when we’re ALL IN.

Head to reconciliation.org.au to learn more.

Please read the post below on how to participate safely in this competition.

🚔 WA DAY COMMUNITY COMPETITION — PLEASE PARTICIPATE SAFELY 💙

We’re loving the positive support being shown towards towards our competition for WA Day.
We’re truly very appreciative!

Let’s do it safely, and in good positive energy by adhering to these rules of the comp!

Please remember:

• Only approach officers when it is clearly safe and appropriate to do so

• Do not interrupt officers actively responding to incidents, emergencies or operational duties

• Never approach officers while they are directing traffic, managing crash scenes, dealing with offenders or conducting roadside operations

• If officers appear busy, stressed or focused on an active situation, please wait or choose another opportunity

• Avoid stopping in unsafe locations including roadsides, intersections, emergency scenes or active traffic areas

• Respect any officer who politely declines due to operational responsibilities

• Keep interactions short, friendly and respectful

• Parents supervising children should ensure interactions occur safely and without disrupting police duties

Safer opportunities may include:

✅ Community events
✅ Entertainment precinct patrols
✅ Casual positive interactions throughout the day

Your safety, public safety and operational policing responsibilities always come first.

This campaign is about positive community support — not creating distractions during important duties.

Thanks everyone for helping keep the campaign positive, respectful and community-focused 👏

This WA Day, while most of WA takes a well-earned break, thousands of police officers will still be on duty serving the community 💙
Police officers work public holidays because the community still needs them and they’re proud to do it. But that doesn’t mean their sacrifice should go unnoticed.
Support from the community matters. Respect matters. Appreciation matters.
A simple thank you can remind officers that the work they do, especially on days spent away from family and friends is valued 👮‍♀️🤝

🚔 WA Day might be a public holiday — but crime doesn’t take the day off.
Across Western Australia, police officers will spend the long weekend responding to emergencies, stopping crime, attending incidents and protecting the community.
While many families are enjoying time together, officers will miss moments with their own loved ones to keep WA safe. 💙
Public holidays don’t stop the job.
They don’t stop the risks.
And they don’t stop WA police officers from showing up when the community needs them most.
Take a moment this WA Day to recognise those still serving our state. 👮‍♀️👮‍♂️

For many West Australians, WA Day is about family, friends and celebrating our great state.
But for thousands of WA Police officers, it’s another day on the job.
While communities come together across WA, police continue responding to emergencies, patrolling our roads, and helping keep everyone safe.
This WA Day, we recognise the officers serving our community across the long weekend — and support fair recognition for the work they do every day. 💙🇦🇺

Yesterday, the executive team attended Parliament to contest issues that affect, you, our Members.
Thank you for standing with us, Adam.

Estimates is about fighting for Western Australians and holding the Government to account.

Today I was proud to stand alongside the WA Police Union to ask serious questions about the Government’s failures in policing and the pressure being placed on officers across our State.
