The Platform Finance WA team took a little business trip to Hamilton Island for the Vow Financial and Yellow Brick Road National Conference. And while we were soaking up the island vibes, and chatting finance, our star player, Jennifer Sheridan, was busy making us proud!

Businesses have until 30 June 2023 to take full advantage of the tax deduction schemes to claim 100% of the deductions. Starting 1 July 2023, the IAWO Scheme will revert to the $20,000 threshold for each asset.

The ABS has released Q3 capital expenditure stats, and the plant, equipment and machinery series paints a positive picture for asset finance brokers. In the Mar-23 quarter spend rose by 3.7% (on the prior quarter) and was up 5.8% on the Mar-22 quarter (P*P); that’s the strongest quarter-on-quarter growth since Mar-21 quarter.

There has been a downturn in construction sector spending year on year, but this has been offset by strong CAPEX growth in transport, warehousing, manufacturing and mining.

The Asset Finance sector and our underlying industries remain resilient to current market pressures, and brokers continue to play an important role in facilitating this economic activity.
