🧡 World Elder Abuse Awareness Day 🧡

Financial exploitation is one of the most common forms of elder abuse, but awareness can help prevent it.

• Pause Before You Act – Scammers create urgency. Slow down and verify before making financial decisions.

• Ask Someone You Trust – A simple conversation can help prevent a costly mistake.

• Watch for Red Flags – Pressure to act quickly, unusual withdrawals, or sudden behavior changes can be warning signs.

• It's Not Always a Stranger – Financial exploitation can come from someone familiar. Trust your instincts if something feels off.

• Protect Your Information – Never share passwords, PINs, or account details unless you're certain who you're dealing with.

• Stay Connected – Regular check-ins with loved ones are one of the strongest protections against financial abuse.

• Pay Attention to Patterns – Small changes over time can signal a larger problem.

• Trust Your Instincts – If something doesn't feel right, pause and ask questions.

• You're Not Alone – If you're unsure about a financial situation, reach out. We're here to help.

Together, we can help protect older adults from financial exploitation and keep our communities safe.

When we think of retired life, we often picture days spent golfing, travelling, or relaxing with family or friends. What we don’t picture, is the many financial dangers older adults face.

Community partnerships create meaningful impact.

We’re proud to partner with Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines and its Member Impact Fund to present Homeword with a check for $8,574.

At Park Side Credit Union, we love saying YES to supporting local nonprofits like Homeword, whose work strengthens financial stability, expands homeownership opportunities, and helps ensure access to safe, healthy homes for Montanans.

Through our contribution and the support of financial institutions across the state, Homeword received more than $222,000 in combined funding to continue making a difference in communities throughout Montana.

Congratulations to Homeword, and thank you for the important work you do every day!

June is Elder Abuse Awareness Month, and we're here to help.

Elder financial abuse is more common than many realize, with older adults losing billions of dollars each year to scams and exploitation, often by someone they know and trust. Many cases develop gradually over time, making them difficult to detect.

That's why we encourage everyone to remember:
Pause. Ask. Protect.

Pause when faced with urgent or unusual financial requests.

Ask a trusted friend, family member, or your credit union if something doesn't seem right.

Protect your personal and financial information by sharing it only when you're certain it's safe.

At Park Side Credit Union, we're committed to helping you protect your financial well-being and make confident financial decisions. If something doesn't feel right, trust your instincts and reach out, we're here to help.

🎓 Caps are flying, diplomas are being handed out, and bright futures are just getting started!

That makes it the perfect time to introduce our 2026 Park Side Scholarship Program recipients. Each year, we award $1,000 scholarships to local students who are pursuing their passions, setting ambitious goals, and making a difference in their communities.

Over the past 8+ years, we've awarded more than $40,000 to over 40 deserving students, helping support their educational journeys and future success.

Congratulations to this year's recipients, we're proud to be a small part of your next chapter!

Congrats to all of the 2026 graduates!💙
