We still have a relatively small balance left on the mortgage on our home here in Wenatchee and, due to essentially a perfect credit relationship built over more than a decade with the company that held the mortgage on our home—Newrez LLC—we thought that using them for a home equity loan would be the simplest and easiest way of financing the new purchase until we are able to sell our paid-off first property in Belize to pay off this new loan.
After the worst customer service experience that we have ever experienced—and that is saying something given the way “customer service” is viewed nowadays—online research led us to several J. D. Power Satisfaction Studies regarding loan originators and loan servicers on which Guild Mortgage was not only ranked near the top, but also had a local branch allowing us to meet with a representative face-to-face.
Due to the incompetence and poor service (numerous calls not returned, unanswered questions, changing loan qualifications mid-stream, etc.) experienced with Newrez, the scheduled closing date on the new property in Belize had passed the week prior, and the current property owners and the listing real estate company were not only growing impatient, but they were now wondering if this deal was going to fall through.
On a Friday morning at 9:46 am, an email was sent to the local Guild Mortgage Branch Manager—Traci Dry—that briefly explained our conundrum, and which requested a meeting with her as soon as possible. A short while later she replied saying she could meet with us that same afternoon. Once in the meeting we spent a few minutes getting to know each other, but then Traci went to work. She asked us a few questions in order to figure out which of the alternative options would best serve us, and in less than two hours we walked out of Branch Manager Traci Dry’s Guild Mortgage office with an approved loan that had better terms than the loan that Newrez had been unable to accomplish in seven weeks!
Don’t waste your precious time and end up beyond frustrated with somebody else…do yourself a favor and reach out to Traci Day and Guild Mortgage to experience top-shelf customer service. You won’t regret it!
