This helps you to understand the difference between a mortgage lender and a mortgage broker.
A mortgage lender and a mortgage broker do different jobs.
Mortgage lender: The company that actually provides the money for the loan. It sets its pricing, underwriting guidelines, approves the loan, funds the closing, and may service the mortgage afterward.
Mortgage broker: The middleman between the borrower and multiple lenders. The broker shops different lenders, compares programs and pricing, helps structure the loan, and sends the loan to the lender that fits best.
