Screen sharing scams are becoming increasingly common in online banking fraud and fake technical support attacks. Scammers often convince victims to install remote access or screen-sharing apps by pretending to be bank employees, customer support agents, or security teams.
Once screen sharing is enabled, attackers may:
⚠️ View passwords and personal information
⚠️ Access banking applications
⚠️ Watch One-Time Passwords (OPT) and verification codes
⚠️ Control devices remotely
⚠️ Monitor sensitive activity in real time
These scams usually begin with:
🚨 Fake customer support calls
🚨 Banking fraud warnings
🚨 Social media or messaging app scams
🚨 “Technical issue” assistance requests
Warning signs include:
🔴 Urgent requests to install remote apps
🔴 Calls asking you to share your screen
🔴 Pressure to act quickly
🔴 Requests to open banking apps during calls
To stay safer:
🛡 Never share your screen with strangers
🛡 Avoid unknown remote access applications
🛡 Verify support calls through official channels - Call your bank using the number on the back of your card.
🛡 Disconnect immediately if something feels suspicious
🛡 Never reveal OTP or banking details during calls - legitimate bank and customer support staff will NEVER ask.
If someone can see your screen, they may see everything.
Think before you share.
