Today's 10-minute presentation at our BNI meeting came from Jane Rooney with Rooney & Rooney Attorneys at Law in Vero Beach.

She walked the room through what to do when you're involved in a vehicle accident — the kind of thing no one thinks about until they're standing on the side of the road wondering what comes next.

Rooney & Rooney handles personal injury and auto accident cases, helping people in our community navigate what happens after a crash.

A good referral for Jane: someone who was recently in an accident and isn't sure what to do next, or a friend or customer who could use a steady hand to talk it through. Introduce them, and let Jane take it from there.

Today's 10-minute presentation at our BNI meeting came from Michael Strezinski with AYS Employee Leasing & Payroll.

Most small business owners didn't start their company to run payroll, chase HR paperwork, or sort out workers' comp. But those jobs still have to get done right, every pay period.

AYS is a Florida-based PEO and payroll provider that handles payroll, HR support, and workers' comp under one roof, built for small and mid-sized businesses right here in Indian River and Brevard counties. Hands-on help, and they actually answer the phone.

A good referral for Michael: a local business owner who dreads payday, is hiring, or wonders whether their payroll setup is carrying hidden risk. Introduce them, and let Michael take it from there.

Curious what actually happens inside a BNI meeting?

Every week, local business owners sit down together and each one gets a minute to tell the room exactly who they want to meet — the kind of customer, the kind of partner, the kind of work they do best. Then the room goes to work: introductions get made, referrals get passed, and everyone leaves with a list of people to connect.

No cold calls. No guessing. Just a room full of people actively looking for business to send your way.

That idea is on stage this week. Come From Away is playing at the Vero Beach Theatre Guild — the true story of a small town that opened its doors and hearts to thousands of stranded strangers. That is how this community thinks: people going out of their way for people they have never met.

Our chapter does a smaller version of the same thing every week, one warm introduction at a time.

Come visit a meeting or message the page to see what it is like.

Saturday brings the Sebastian Scream 5K to the North County Aquatic Center — a sunset run, costume contest, and haunted trail, with proceeds supporting mental health programs for our local police, fire, and EMS. That is Sebastian: people showing up for people.

Our chapter works the same way. Every week, local business owners sit down together and learn what each business does best — and then spend the year looking for chances to send customers each other's way.

That is how a BNI success story starts. Not with an ad campaign, but with one person across the table who knows your name and vouches for you. One warm introduction turns into a client who stays for years — and sends their friends along too.

If you run a local business and want a room of people looking out for you, come visit a meeting or message the page to learn more.

At today's meeting, Joel Stout from Sandpiper Pest Control gave our 10-minute presentation — on a topic every Florida homeowner knows too well: cockroaches.

Joel shared Sandpiper's extremely effective method for controlling cockroaches. That's the kind of know-how you only get from someone who does this every day, right here in Sebastian.

That's what a BNI meeting is for. Every week, one member takes ten minutes to teach the room what they do best — so the rest of us know exactly who to send your way.

Got a pest problem, or know someone who does? Message the page and we'll connect you with Joel.

This weekend's Vero Beach Oktoberfest brings 120+ vendor booths to the Indian River County Fairgrounds, Oct 16-18. A great way for local businesses to get seen — for one weekend.

But visibility works best when it repeats. A booth gets you noticed for three days. A room full of fellow business owners who talk about your business every week gets you noticed all year.

In BNI, local owners from Sebastian and Vero Beach show up weekly, learn what makes each business worth recommending, and pass real customers to each other. One booth, one weekend — or a network working for you year-round.

If you run a business in Sebastian or Vero Beach and want to get in front of more of the right people, come visit a meeting or message the page to learn more.

Here is some simple referral math.

A cold lead costs time, follow-up, and a chunk of your marketing budget. A referred lead shows up already trusting you, because someone they know vouched for you.

Now multiply that. Every week, a room of local business owners sits down, learns what each business does best, and keeps an eye out for customers who need exactly that. One warm introduction can turn into a customer for years.

And in BNI, each profession holds just one seat. So when someone in the room meets your ideal customer, you are the only business of your kind they can recommend.

If you run a business in Sebastian or Vero Beach and want more of those warm introductions, come visit a meeting or message the page to learn more.

Florida's first surf park is about to open — right in our backyard. 🏄

The Point Surf Park in Fellsmere, a $30 million project with a 700-foot wave basin off CR 512, is aiming to open this month, according to developer Luiz De Araujo. A town best known for the Frog Leg Festival is about to become Florida's surf capital.

Here's why that should matter to every business owner in Sebastian and Vero Beach:

New destinations don't just fill wave pools. They fill restaurants, hotels, surf shops, and rental counters. They bring new visitors, new residents, and new construction — and every one of those dollars flows to a business somebody recommended.

When a visitor asks a local, "Where should we eat? Who do you call for AC out here?" — the names that come up don't come from a search page. They're the names local people already know and trust.

That's what BNI is. A room of local business owners who know your name and your work — so when the next wave of growth hits the Treasure Coast, you're the one being recommended.

Growth is coming to our backyard. Be the name that comes up.

Come visit a meeting — or message this page and we'll show you how it works.

Snowbird season is quietly rolling into Sebastian and Vero Beach, which means a wave of new faces arriving, each one looking for a local plumber, roofer, accountant, or florist they can trust.

Here is a peek at what happens inside a BNI meeting each week: local business owners spend a morning talking about their own businesses, who they help, and who would make a great customer to meet next. Visitors get to introduce themselves too. No cold calls, no awkward pitch decks. Just people getting to know each other's businesses well enough to recommend them with confidence.

By the time the seasonal rush arrives, those relationships are already warmed up. That is the whole point.

Curious what the room feels like? Come visit a meeting, or message the page to learn more.
