Market Update:

The U.S. 10-Year Treasury yield is currently 4.449, above opening levels near 4.428%. News of a peace agreement over the weekend might shift short run expectations for inflation and interest rates. Trump announced that a deal with Iran was now complete yesterday with a signing ceremony to take place in Switzerland on Friday. Oil prices dell on the news with the Strait of Hormuz reopening. Housing and retail sales data will be the backdrop this week. The Fed is also meeting this week, marking Warsh’s first as Fed Chair. Market participants are widely expecting no changes but will be tuned in to see if Warsh holds what could be his first press conference for any potential Fed policy details. The NAHB Housing Market Index is due out at 10 a.m. ET this morning. Housing starts and Import prices are on the schedule for tomorrow.

Good morning! Happy Friday! Here is your Friday morning Market Update!

The U.S. 10-Year Treasury yield is currently 4.491%, above opening levels near 4.469%. The U.S. and Iran appear closer to a peace deal after the draft of a 14-point memorandum was aired on Iran’s state-run television. The proposed deal points to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, the removal of oil sanctions and end to all conflict in the region which includes Lebanon. Oil prices moved lower on the news and are currently trading around $85 a barrel. Preliminary Consumer sentiment for June is due out at 10 a.m. ET to cap off the week. Next week will be short with Friday market closure for Juneteenth. Warsh’s first Fed meeting as Chair will be the highlight next week with a backdrop of housing data with Housing starts, Building permits, Pending home sales, and the Home builder confidence index. Market participants are widely expecting no changes from the Fed next week. Next week could represent a shift in Fed communication. Warsh has repeatedly stated that he has not committed to holding a press conference at every Fed meeting, noting that the Fed does not need to signal every move to markets. A much more silenced approach could lie ahead, leaving the markets to place higher value on Fed meeting minutes and the Fed’s Beige Book amidst the latest unemployment and inflation data.

Good morning! Here is today's Market Update:

The U.S. 10-Year Treasury yield is currently 4.528%, below opening levels near 4.552%. Yields saw volatility with PPI being released but quickly flattened out. PPI data followed suit with this week’s inflation theme, coming in hotter than expected, rising a seasonally adjusted 1.1% month over month and at an annualized rate of 6.5%. Core PPI jumped by 0.4%, pointing to rising fuel prices as being a primary contributor to current inflation dynamics. Consumer sentiment is the final economic release this week, scheduled for 10 a.m. ET tomorrow. While the geopolitical front has been quiet, a recent downing of an American helicopter seems to have reignited conflict. Trump stated that the U.S. will attack Iran tonight to assume control of Iran’s oil and gas markets and other infrastructure as well as the Kharg Island terminal. Oil prices spiked back above $90 a barrel on the news.

Market participants are awaiting tomorrow’s CPI release followed by Thursday’s PPI data for the latest look at inflation.
