Forrit Credit Union

Forrit Credit Union In this world that’s all too often obsessed with the big, we’d like to make a case for small. That’s us. We’re Forrit Credit Union. And we’re proudly small.

Forrit Credit Union was created in 1936 as Portland Federal Employee's Credit Union. 45 founding members came together with the credit union philosophy of ‘people helping people' to form a financial cooperative that could help provide them with personalized banking solutions. The resulting credit union's mission — Forward Together. Each Member. Each Moment.— we view every moment as an opportunity

to grow, and we won’t stop making tomorrow a better place for our members. Today, Forrit Credit Union continues to serve our members with a full spectrum of financial services. We provide our members with anytime-anywhere online and mobile banking, personal one-on-one service, 24-hour phone access, plus access to thousands of ATMs and shared branches. When you become a member of Forrit, you're joining a member-driven, proudly-Portland, and 100% cooperative credit union in the Pacific Northwest. Being Forrit means we dive right in and get to work on enhancing the financial well-being of our members. We’re not only here to help our members arrive at their desired goals, but to do it with excitement!

You got a raise! Congratulations! Now what happened to all that extra income? 🧐

Have you ever noticed that even though you’re making more money, it still seems to disappear just as quickly as before? Lifestyle inflation is what occurs when your spending rises right alongside your income. It leaves you feeling just as financially stretched as before. 💰

In our recent blog post, we've broken down some ways you can avoid lifestyle inflation after a raise. 🫶

May is AAPI Month. 💐🫶

During this month, we take time to reflect and celebrate the important role that Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders play in shaping history and culture in our communities. We are celebrating by highlighting two AAPI-owned businesses right here in Portland! 🤩✨

All Burn Wax is owned by the wonderful, kind, and hilarious Diana. The moment you step into All Burn Wax, Diana makes you feel like you are talking to a friend you have known for years. She began making her hand poured candles as a way to gift her friends and family a present made with love. All Burn Wax is your one-stop shop for gifts made by AAPI and BIPOC Artisans!

Buttercoop Bakery is a delicious Asian-inspired bakery located in Bethany Village owned by Ti and Micheal. Buttercoop serves up some seriously tasty treats! Baked fresh daily, they serve up Korean garlic buns, Vietnamese-influenced cupcakes, basque cheesecake, ube cookies, and jiggly bunny pudding!

Explore The Mercatus Directory () to discover more Asian, Native Hawaiian, or Pacific Islander businesses in the Portland Metro area! 📚

Ever wish you had the chance to practice adulthood before getting thrown into it? 🤔💡

Bite of Reality is an interactive financial workshop that allows students the opportunity to navigate real-life scenarios with no pressure. Students are given a randomized occupation, salary, and credit score for both themselves and a hypothetical spouse. They then make real-life decisions by interacting with vendors selling cars, houses, entertainment, food, and clothing. Through this hands-on activity, students practice making smart financial choices while learning valuable lessons about budgeting, saving, and managing responsibilities. 💸💫

Thank you to our friends at Point West Credit Union, Trailhead Credit Union, Consolidated Community Credit Union, iQ Credit Union, Cutting Edge Credit Union, and Embold Credit Union for volunteering! We truly could not have done this without you. We'd also like to send a huge thank you to the staff and students at Century High School for having us! It is always such a pleasure to spend time with you all. 🤩🎉

On Saturday, the Forrit team laced up our running shoes and hit the track for the 3rd annual AMIGOS Jog-A-Thon! 🏃‍♀️💜

The AMIGOS Jog-A-Thon is an annual event that brings students, families, and community members together to raise funds for the program. 💸 🚀

Organización de Amigos is a nonprofit organization that brings free after-school strength, conditioning, and mentorship programs to public schools in Washington County. Amigos is on a mission to break down the barriers that prevent children from accessing fitness and mentorship opportunities. Busy family schedules, limited transportation, and the high cost of after-school activities often make it difficult for students to participate in extracurricular programs. Amigos provides a solution by delivering an accessible program with wonderful coaches who also act as mentors for these children. They foster not only a positive and inclusive fitness environment, but also support the social and emotional well-being of youth in our community. 🏋️‍♂️ 🫶

Forrit Credit Union was proud to sponsor such an incredible fundraiser and support the amazing work Jessie and her team do to help children grow, succeed, and thrive. An extra shoutout to Forrit’s very own… TAYLOR! Taylor took second place at the Jog-A-Thon after completing an impressive 5 miles in just 40 minutes! 👏🎉

We 💜 our libraries.

Strong community resources like Multnomah County Library play a vital role in boosting financial wellness in our communities. Local libraries offer free Wi-Fi, printing, streaming services, workshops, tech support, community spaces, and many other valuable resources. You can also reserve passes to popular Portland attractions, including the Portland Japanese Garden and the Portland Opera! 🤩
