Congratulations to **Elena & Zack** on the purchase of their very first home! 🎉🔑

These two were an absolute joy to work with—excited, appreciative, and genuinely thrilled every step of the way. And they found the perfect place to begin their homeownership journey: an adorable starter home that has been beautifully renovated and is ready for them to make it their own.

This closing was especially meaningful to me because Elena is the daughter of longtime clients I first had the privilege of helping nearly 20 years ago. After working with her parents on multiple loans over the years, having them trust me enough to refer their daughter and son-in-law to me for their first home purchase truly means more than I can say.

Mortgage rates moved higher as longer dated Treasury yields hit the highest level since 2007 during the week ending September 25, 2026.

It’s been a rough week for mortgage rates. Stronger-than-expected economic data from S&P earlier this week initially pushed rates higher, but the bigger issue is what that report may be signaling about the economy.

Markets are already nervous about the possibility that the Federal Reserve may need to keep rates higher for longer. The unexpectedly strong report added to those concerns and created uncertainty about what next week’s important economic reports may show.

In simple terms: **the economy may be running stronger than the markets hoped, and stronger economic data tends to put upward pressure on mortgage rates.** Investors are playing it safe for now, which has made for a pretty ugly week in the mortgage market.
